Cole Escola’s Mary Todd Lincoln can’t be stopped: The comedic play is officially the first and only show of the 2024-25 season to recoup its production costs from its Broadway run, as reported by Variety. Capitalized at $4.5 million, “Oh, Mary!” has broken its own box office record nine times and became the first show in the Lyceum Theatre’s 121-year history to gross more than $1 million in a single week. The show follows an unhinged Lincoln in the weeks leading up to her husband’s assassination. It runs through January 19.

Forbes anoints Alex Cooper the “Stream Queen,” thanks to an expanding empire that includes touring, a podcast network, a media company, and a newly inked nine-figure deal with SiriusXM. For its December/January issue, Forbes profiled the podcaster and entrepreneur as she wrapped up the West Coast leg of her Unwell Tour. In August, Cooper announced a three-year partnership with SiriusXM, bringing her flagship “Call Her Daddy” podcast to the network as well as four other shows — hosted by fellow UTA clients Alix Earle, Harry Jowsey, Madeline Argy, and Owen Thiele — from the Unwell family. “The deal was more about what other things people can give ‘Call Her Daddy’ and Unwell that will help us grow,” she says. “I got a closer view of how innovation happens within an A.I. company, and got a better idea of why it’s important to push the edges and try new things.” As OpenAI’s first artist in residence, our client Alexander Reben’s remit was to explore the artistic potential of A.I. by experimenting with a range of technologies, from “conceptual cameras” that reimagine sketches as A.I.-generated images to cutting tools capable of sculpting four-foot-tall statues. “There are different types of art,” he says, “and different reasons that art exists.” Some of those works are now on view at the Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles alongside pieces created outside of his residency. In December, they will appear as part of an exhibit by the Bitforms Gallery at Untitled Art, a contemporary art fair in Miami Beach. The New York Times caught up with Reben to see his process of creating with AI, or what he joyfully calls “cheeky mischief.” See more at the link below.

The Glicked double bill represents “a fearless take on visceral storytelling, elevated by smart marketing and social and PR campaigns," UTA's Sam Glynne tells The Guardian. Read more about how this theatrical "double header" — which has brought in $385 million at the global box office so far — is drawing in moviegoers below.
When the dust had settled, both Barbie and Oppenheimer were winners. Critically acclaimed, box office bursting, culture defining movies of the highest order. Two very different, zeitgeist defining films that inadvertently ended up co-marketing the other. It remains to be seen whether Glicked is the new Barbenheimer. But what all four have in common is a fearless take on visceral storytelling, elevated by smart marketing, social and PR campaigns that captivated audiences from all angles before they’d even ordered their popcorn. Connie Nielsen is back in the Colosseum! In honor of her return to Ridley Scott’s Roman Empire — 24 years after the release of the original blockbuster — Nielsen appears on the cover of Deadline Hollywood’s annual Oscar Preview issue, alongside her “Gladiator II” director and co-stars. In the film, Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Lucilla, mother of Lucius, who returns to Rome to challenge its corrupt rulers. Nielsen says the film has been a gift that has allowed her to find “an outlet for my own personally felt anxiety about the rise of authoritarianism.” The long-awaited sequel is in theaters today. Timothée Chalamet reveals he had to “push the preparation and bounds” to embody Bob Dylan for the upcoming biopic, “A Complete Unknown,” out Christmas Day. Chalamet knows all eyes would be on him and how his portrayal of the musician, considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time, lives up to the real thing. “People are deeply protective of Bob Dylan and his music legacy,” Chalamet says, “because it’s so pure in a sense, and they don’t want to see a biopic mishandle that.” Read more about how the Oscar-nominated actor took on the challenge in the latest Rolling Stone cover story below. https://lnkd.in/gV6Ts8ry
