𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿? 📈 By enabling local electricity sharing, energy communities relieve pressure on distribution grids and bring a broader, more diverse set of participants into the energy market. However, while energy communities thrive in single-family homes, challenges remain in scaling this model to multi-tenant or commercial buildings and connecting entire local groups for direct energy sharing. Our latest market map sheds light on the companies driving change in this interesting and nascent area of the energy transition. This map was a part of a recent report written by our very own Jonathan Lersch and Simone de Bruin: "Energy Community Startups Driving the Decentralised Energy Transition," where we take a deep dive into the potential of energy communities to move the needle and the investment opportunities that the sector offers: Discover investment opportunities and solutions to accelerate the path to a more resilient energy future. 👉𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/eTR4GTH4 #SETVentures #carbonfree #energy #energycommunities #climatereport #climatetech #startups

🇺🇸 Our Head of US Market Graeme Cooper MBA FEI reflects on his visit to #NewEnglandVentureSummit in #Boston 🇺🇸 "I had six minutes to deliver a winning pitch to a discerning investor crowd at the New England Venture summit. "UrbanChain were selected as part of an exclusive group of startups/scale ups to showcase their technology, innovation and products. "The audience was a mixed group of VCs, angels, seed, Series A and Series B funders/investors. "UrbanChain was recognised by winning a top innovator award. "Not only was this a pitch ahead of our own Series B push going into 2025, but it stimulated great conversations. "There was also an interest in collaboration / potential partnerships to run pilots of our platform. "The US is a great market to disrupt as there is genuine interest to innovate, collaborate and move the dial. "Looking forward to taking the positive words into action!" "Thank you to youngStartup Ventures for a beautifully run event." #collaboration #showingbydoing #innovation #scaleup #nevs24 #NewEnglandVentureSummit #youngstartupventures

We’re proud to share that our ‘Net Zero Terrace’ initiative in collaboration with Electricity North West, Centre for Energy Equality, and Rossendale Valley Energy, won the prestigious ‘Innovation Award’ at the Utility Week Awards on Tuesday evening. The ’Net Zero Terrace’ initiative combines an ambient loop system for heat pumps with community energy and smart energy management via a virtual microgrid. The community-led approach will see smart-energy solutions adopted across streets throughout the country, helping to optimise energy bills while addressing significant demand on the electricity network, thanks to Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund. Phil Proctor, Technical Director at Buro Happold, said: “By looking at how we can use a smart energy approach, we’ve developed a flexible, community-led solution that means we can decarbonise whole neighbourhoods. The solution unlocks stranded communities in terraced streets, yet can be applied anywhere. This has never been achieved before in the UK.” We are also addressing non-technical barriers to create a commercial, standardised, replicable, and scalable model for 'energy communities' across the UK, thanks to a grant from UKRI.
