  • 🌿🐔 Transforming lives with new skills in chicken raising and vegetable farming! 🌱💪 USAID Conserve provided a training on native chicken raising and vegetable growing to the Boeng Kachhang community protected area (CPA) in Koh Kong province. The three-day training, attended by ten community members, built the capacity of CPA members in native chicken raising and climate resilient vegetable farming. Held at the Boeng Kachhang CPA, the training combined classroom instruction with practical, hands-on sessions. Topics explored during the chicken raising training included selecting and breeding chickens, scaling up chicken production, preparing climate resilient chicken houses, feeding and watering practices, vaccination, and disease management and treatment. The vegetable farming training addressed soil management, crop management and harvesting, composting with solid and liquid materials, and pest management. Trainers facilitated the development of action plans by community members to implement the new livelihood activities, ensuring that the knowledge gained will be put into practice. This training is crucial for communities, as it addresses gaps identified during the initial organizational capacity assessment undertaken by the community and USAID Conserve prior to issuing a small grant to the CPA from USAID Conserve. By adopting these new livelihood activities, the community will improve local livelihoods and reduce pressure on natural resources, contribute to sustainable development, and improve their resilience to climate change. #USAIDCambodia #USAIDConserve

  • 🎉 Congratulations to 63 CBOs that received small grants from USAID Conserve! 🌱💪 🌍 During the month of October 2024, the USAID Conserve team held grant kick-off meetings with 63 community-based organizations (CBO). Meetings took place in Kampong Thom, Koh Kong, Preah Vihear, Pursat, Battambang, Stung Treng, and Kratie provinces. In addition to CBO representatives, grant signing ceremonies were witnessed by local and provincial authorities, community members, and CBO Grant Technical Coordination (GTC) partners. Following the grant signing ceremony CBOs were provided with an adult and child safeguarding and reporting training, reviewed the CBO grant workplan, discussed compliance with grant agreement terms and conditions, learned about grant reporting mechanisms, and participated in a record-keeping training. 💡 Providing direct grants to CBOs is the foundation of USAID Conserve’s approach to locally led environmental conservation and community development. CBO grants improve the institutional and technical capacities of CBOs, enhance local livelihoods, engage in carbon financing projects, and conserve community-managed ecosystems. CBOs are the frontline defenders of protected areas, playing a crucial role in safeguarding natural resources and conserving wildlife. By improving the livelihoods of local communities, the pressure on natural resources is reduced. Additionally, grants enhance community capacity through training and coaching, leading to better conservation outcomes and rural development. #USAIDCambodia #USAIDConserve

  • 🎉Happy Water Festival!💧 It is a joyful occasion rooted in a long-standing Khmer tradition, celebrating Cambodia's rich heritage of water and fisheries. At the same time, it serves as a reminder of our duty to safeguard our vital aquatic ecosystems. 🌊 Aligned with this goal, our conservation efforts focus on sustainable fisheries around the Tonle Sap Lake. By working with local communities, we aim to restore fish habitats, promote responsible fishing practices, and secure the prosperity of these waters for future generations. 🐟 Together, we can ensure that the waters that sustain us remain vibrant and full of life. Happy Water Festival! 🎉🌾🐠 USAID Conserve team sends you warm wishes for happiness, safety, success, and joyful reunions with your loved ones. #KhmerWaterFestival #SustainableFisheries #ConservationMatters #TonleSapLake #USAIDConserve #USAIDCambodia
