YOLANDA and USHER. Yes that Usher. And what are we doing together? Listen, we are feeding Leadership Confidence into underrepresented youth leaders eager to show up and show out at Usher's New Look Disruptivator Summit 2024. . An intelligent group visited #IBM for their career excursion to learn about AI and professional workplace skills. And yea, they left with KNOWLEDGE! We can use AI responsibly and take control of our destiny and how AI travels with us! (and not the other way around!) Also as a woman in technology, stay curious! Stephanie Grier Simon, PMP DeShaun (D.B.) Bennett Dellena Priester Thank you Deloria (Pride) Chubbs for leading this effort for IBM!!

CNC Staff members enjoyed providing an off-site volunteer project for Usher's New Look Community Service Day at this year's #Disruptivator Summit at Oglethorpe University! CNC Wildlife staff member, Jeremy Maneyapanda explained to student volunteers attending the #Disruptivator Summit why having special perches for injured birds of prey helps during the rehabilitation process. #Disruptivator volunteers helped assemble 12 new bird perches for injured birds brought to CNC for rehabilitation. In 2023 CNC's Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic admitted and cared for more than 650 injured and orphaned raptors, reptiles and amphibians. We cannot do this important work without the support of our community partners and dedicated volunteers! Thank you, Alicia Washington for coordinating this impactful community event! We are thrilled to be included. #GetYourNatureOn #PositiveChange #Community

PRESIDENT | Emmerse | Social Impact Leader | Mental Health Advocate

Emmerse got to live out our why! We are devoted to advocating for mental wellness in our community. Today, we partnered with Usher's New Look to create self-care bags for the unhoused served by the @saoatl (Safehouse). I got to see, firsthand, the leadership and service skills of the youth in the program through their hard work on assembling the bags. Hearing their stories brought so much joy to my heart. Together, we were able to assemble and donate 50 bags with freshly made soaps, body butters and lip balms. It's an honor to do this work... entrepreneurship isn't always easy but times like this make it worth it.

President & CEO at Compete to Succeed Educational Resources

Almost 12 years ago, I transitioned from practicing law to focus on my passion of educational equity through access, opportunity and exposure. Through a series of divine introductions, I was connected to Usher's New Look. What started out as a volunteer assignment evolved into 11 years of working with and then leading the most passionate and dedicated team to accomplish our mission of developing passion-driven leaders through spark exploration, and career and education preparedness. After 11 transformative years at Usher's New Look, I have made the decision to pursue other aspects of this work. This journey has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I am immensely proud of what I have accomplished and what we have achieved together. My accomplishments span multiple aspects of the operation, including: developing and expanding programs and curricula; cultivating national and international partners; broadening the capacity of the team; generating millions of dollars in revenue; leading the expansion of our annual Disruptivator Summit; envisioning the creation of the Disruptivator Club model; growing our Board of Directors; leading a comprehensive organizational rebrand; and, amplifying UNL’s mission nationally and leading the program through a global pandemic. Over the past decade, we have empowered over ten thousand young people to discover their passion, pursue their dreams, and become leaders in their communities. Our dedicated team, passionate supporters, and resilient students have continually motivated me to strive for excellence. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Usher Raymond IV, whose vision has set the foundation for the development of young leaders across the globe. I also want to thank our incredible staff, board members, partners, and volunteers for their commitment and partnership in this work. Together, we have built a strong foundation that will continue to impact lives for years to come. To the students, families and alumni of Usher's New Look, you are the heart and soul of this organization. Your stories of perseverance, growth, and achievement inspire us all. As I move on to the next chapter of work, I will carry with me the countless memories and lessons learned from each of you. As I have always said, this work has been one of the honors of my life. While my time as President and CEO is coming to an end, I remain dedicated to the mission of Usher's New Look. As UNL celebrates 25 years of impact, I look forward to seeing the growth and expansion of the organization. The next phase of my career I will combine my experiences from my time at UNL with my legal and education career to help create equitable educational outcomes for all youth through education reform projects and initiatives. With sincere gratitude, Careshia N. Moore

👏Many know Usher for his music, but his foundation, Usher's New Look (UNL), is creating a different kind of harmony. Founded in 1999 with his mother, UNL runs programs supporting students from eighth grade through five years post-high school, connecting with under-resourced youth everywhere. Today's #DailyPointofLight Award honoree Shanice Chang began as a virtual participant in UNL's Disruptivator Club, which helps fill gaps in traditional education. After participating in the program, Shanice began volunteering as a cast member and later joined the Leadership Academy, delivering lessons via video recordings globally and participating in off-campus excursions. ✨ We're honored to present Shanice with her award in person today at a UNL event. Read more about Shanice’s inspiring journey and learn how to nominate a changemaker for a Daily Point of Light. #CommunityImpact #YouthLeadership
