The US-UAE Business Council, in partnership with the UAE Embassy - Washington, DC, hosted a roundtable briefing on Tuesday, December 10th in Washington, D.C. with a delegation led by His Excellency Hamid Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the AMLCFT. The delegation of officials representing six U.A.E. government agencies is in the United States to engage both public and private U.S. stakeholders and explain the U.A.E.'s progress in strengthening its Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regime. In a closed-door briefing to U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council key members on Wednesday, December 11, Her Excellency Mariam AlMheiri discussed her new role as the Group CEO of 2PointZero. She outlined six verticals of focus for this next generation Abu Dhabi-based holding company. 2PointZero is expected to reach more than 100 billion AED (27 billion USD) in expected asset value. 

On Tuesday 10 December, the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council hosted a conversation on the transformational impact of AI in financial services sector with Hana Al Rostamani, the Group CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank and Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft U.A.E. Ms. Al Rostamani and Mr. Yazbeck discussed the broader Microsoft-FAB strategic partnership and its positive impact. 

The UAE Embassy - Washington, DC, UAE Space Agency, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Mission to the UAE, and US-UAE Business Council hosted a dinner on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Grand Canal in Abu Dhabi to set the stage for the Abu Dhabi Space Debate, taking place from 10-11 December 2024. This event brought together the Director General of the U.A.E. Space Agency H.E. Salem Al Qubaisi, the U.S. Ambassador to the U.A.E. Martina Strong, and representatives from the aerospace industry, government, and academia to discuss the U.A.E.’s burgeoning space sector and opportunities for bilateral cooperation. The US-UAE Business Council hosted an executive networking luncheon with leadership from ADQ and its portfolio companies on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Abu Dhabi. ADQ is an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company overseeing a diverse portfolio of major enterprises. Dr. Jaap Kalkman, Group Chief Investment Officer at ADQ, provided attendees with an overview of ADQ and its expansion strategy. Additionally, ADQ’s portfolio companies outlined their business development priorities, and how these align with Abu Dhabi’s strategic goals in the energy, food security, logistics, and mobility sectors.
