Value4Farm
Services for Renewable Energy
This project received funding from the EU’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme. Grant Agreement 101116076.
About us
VALUE4FARM is a EU funded project gathering 14 partners with the aim of demonstrating solutions at farm level to allow in situ renewable-energy production to match farms' energy needs while maintaining sustainable food production. To do so, VALUE4FARM will demonstrate three renewable-based value chains in three countries: in Denmark, add-ons to the traditional biomethane pathway will be brought for answering the local specificities of large-scale farms. In Belgium, a pathway towards better use of existing residual streams will be demonstrated for efficient production of electricity/heat and fuel, thus answering mobility needs for small-scale farms. In Italy, hybridisation compatibilities will be investigated towards the creation of an efficient off-grid biomethane plant. Sustainable agricultural crop protocols will be developed, based on farmers' specifications, meeting the challenges of the agricultural sector. All value chains will promote circularity through nutrient recovery.

😊 We are delighted to share this post highlighting Magnus Kamau Katana Lindhardt, a dedicated member of Aarhus University team as part of our #HorizonEurope Value4Farm project, working on the innovative combination of 🌾agriculture and 🔋renewable energy. 💡 Their research focuses on #agrivoltaics, investigating how vertical solar panels affect crop growth and quality, with the aim of developing multifunctional land use that produces both food and sustainable electricity. We are very proud of this hard work and significant contributions to our demo site in Denmark. 🌱☀️ 👏 A huge shout out to the entire team at Aarhus University for their efforts and collaboration on our project! Keep up the great work. 👏 🌍 Together we are making progress towards a sustainable future! 👉 More information: www.value4farm.eu CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency
🎄 Holiday Research Spotlight Series 🎄 Today, we highlight Magnus Kamau Katana Lindhardt, whose research in agrivoltaics is paving the way for a future where sustainable agriculture and renewable energy go hand in hand. Kamau grew up in Copenhagen and Hundested, where his early interest in natural sciences was sparked by the sea and nature. After high school, he pursued a student position aboard the training ship Georg Stage, gaining invaluable skills and lifelong friendships. Back on shore, Kamau began a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources at the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, specializing in plants. His academic journey took him to Brazil and Colombia, where he gained firsthand experience with tropical agriculture. These experiences deepened his understanding of how climate and culture shape agricultural systems and reconnected him with his Kenyan heritage. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Kamau pursued a master’s degree in Plant Sciences and Geoinformatics at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. Returning to Denmark, Kamau worked at the Danish Agricultural Agency, focusing on satellite-based monitoring of farmland. However, he missed the hands-on connection with the land. Today, Kamau is pursuing a PhD at Aarhus Universitet as part of the EU-funded Value4Farm project, researching agrivoltaics—the combination of agriculture and solar energy. His work studies how vertical solar panels affect crop growth and quality, aiming to create multifunctional land use that produces both food and sustainable electricity. ✨ We are proud to share that our partner Inagro vzw recently visited EnergyDecentral and EuroTier in Hanover in the context of the Value4Farm project! 🌱 👉 Check out the post below for more details! 😊 🌍 Together, we're driving sustainable solutions for a greener future! 🌍 #biogas #biomethane #cleanenergy #sustainability #agriculture
Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit EnergyDecentral and EuroTier in Hannover. It was great to see that many companies offer solutions for the challenges agriculture is facing nowadays, such as access to affordable and clean energy. Within Value4Farm, Inagro vzw will demonstrate several valorisation options for #biogas, among which an innovative microturbine (MITIS), several ways to upgrade biogas to #biomethane and its use as a transport fuel for tractors. www.value4farm.eu
