Invest in women. Improve the world.

About us

Founded over 20 years ago, Vital Voices turns the traditional model of development on its head with a simple mission: invest in women, improve the world. With deep, individualized investments, Vital Voices seeks out creative and fearless women leaders with daring vision and proven local solutions. We then partner with them to amplify that impact and create global change. The women leaders we work with can participate in skill-building and network development efforts in three key areas: • leadership development and global activation • economic empowerment and entrepreneurship • human rights and combatting violence against women These efforts come to life through our signature programs and individual, targeted investment approaches.

  • 🚨 𝑰𝒓𝒂𝒏’𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑯𝒊𝒋𝒂𝒃 𝑳𝒂𝒘 𝑬𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝑶𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏 Women in Iran could face flogging, lengthy prison terms, and even the death penalty for defying the country’s mandatory hijab laws. The new legislation, ironically titled “Law on Protecting the Family through the Promotion of the Culture of Chasity and Hijab,” is a dangerous escalation in Iran’s crackdown on women and girls.  Set to take effect on December 13, 2024, it imposes harsh penalties for actions deemed “unveiling,” “indecency,” or “promoting nudity.” Businesses, schools, and even taxi drivers are now required to report violations. This law is part of a broader effort to crush the courageous resistance sparked by the death of #MahsaAmini in 2022. Her tragic killing ignited global outrage and a historic movement for women’s rights. In 2022, Vital Voices proudly joined forces with global leaders to advocate for Iran’s removal from the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. Today, we remain committed to amplifying their voices and pushing for accountability. 💬 Raise awareness by sharing this post and standing with the women of Iran.    #WomenLifeFreedom #StandWithIranianWomen #HumanRights
