Here is what a sample day of eating looked like for me as a traveling salesperson: - Water with Electrolytes after waking and throughout the day - Coffee 90 minutes after waking (sometimes I will add nonfat milk, but mostly black). No caffeine after 12 pm - Breakfast: 2-3 eggs cooked in butter or hardboiled eggs + nonfat Greek yogurt, banana/berries - Snack: a cup of nonfat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese + apple + cinnamon, jerky - Lunch: burger (no bun) + side salad with oil and vinegar dressing - Snack (optional): Tuna/chicken pouch + couple of almonds or apple - Dinner: beef, chicken, fish, turkey + sweet potato + unlimited mixed veggies Find what works for you, keep it simple, prioritize protein, and stick to mainly one-ingredient whole foods. #health #wellness #food #energy #productivity

Earlier in my career, one of the hardest things to do was keep my energy level consistent throughout the day. I would crash in the early afternoons, leading to more coffee, which affected my sleep that night. I would wake up feeling sluggish after a bad night of sleep, which affected my cognitive ability. This felt like a never-ending cycle. It wasn't until I started prioritizing my nutrition that I saw a change. Stick to high-protein foods in the morning and lunch: eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. My go-to breakfast is two to three eggs cooked in butter (or hard-boiled), nonfat Greek yogurt with berries and cinnamon. Lunch is usually beef/chicken, with a side salad, rice or potato if I travel. Stay away from anything fried or that has gluten - this will leave you feeling sluggish. No caffeine after 12 noon. This will keep your brain firing all day and prevent you from staring at the ceiling all night from caffeine late in the day. #health #wellness #nutrition #productivity #energy #food

One of the biggest things I struggle with is sitting down and focusing. I’ve struggled with it since I was a little kid, and because of it, I was never a good test taker in school. As an adult, I think it’s even more challenging with constant texts, emails, notifications, social media, etc. A couple of years back, I read “Deep Work” by Cal Newport, which completely changed the way I get work done and focus, helping me tremendously with productivity. A couple of things that’s work for me: - clear desk of clutter or any distractions - put phone away or turn off - turn off all notifications - make a “big rock” list of the biggest needle-moving activities you need to get done that day, do them first - set timer for 1:30hr and work straight through until alarm goes off - give yourself a break in between work blocks, get outside or go for a walk - batch together similar activities, i.e. batch together creative work, all calls, emails, admin work, etc so you do not have to switch constantly between tasks and screens - wear noise-canceling headphones, my go-to soundtrack is “Hans Zimmer” Radio on Pandora Let me know if there’s anything else that works for you! #health #wellness #work #focus #productivity #deepwork

My go to snacks as a traveling salesman: Jerky and meat sticks: beef, turkey, chicken, or venison Hard Boiled Eggs Nonfat Greek Yogurt Tuna or chicken pouches (make sure of no seed oils) Nonfat Cottage Cheese Fruit Rather than stopping for fast food, I would run into a grocery store and grab some jerky, hard boiled eggs and fruit. Higher protein snacks would hold me over until my next meal and not make me feel like I needed a nap 20 minutes later. #health #wellness #food #healthysnacks #productivity

As a busy professional, the most significant investment I made in myself was getting healthier. Here are 6 reasons why: Increased Energy and Productivity - A consistent workout routine and proper nutrition significantly boosted my energy levels, helping me stay more focused and productive throughout the day. By fueling my body properly, I avoided energy crashes and was better equipped to handle long work hours and demanding tasks. Improved Mental Clarity and Focus - Exercise stimulates the release of endorphins and improves blood flow to the brain, enhancing cognitive function. Regular physical activity helped me think more clearly, make decisions faster, and maintain concentration during important meetings or projects. Better Stress Management - Balancing a career and personal life can be stressful, but regular exercise and good nutrition are natural stress relievers. Physical activity reduces levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as cortisol, while increasing the production of endorphins, which are mood elevators. This helped me stay calm and level-headed even in high-pressure situations. Enhanced Confidence and Leadership - When I prioritized my health, I started to see positive changes in my body and mind, which significantly improved my confidence. This newfound self-assurance often extended to work, enhancing my leadership presence, communication, and decision-making abilities. Greater Work-Life Balance - A healthier lifestyle provided me with the stamina and mental clarity to not only excel at work but also fully engage in my personal life. I had the energy to spend quality time with loved ones, pursue hobbies, and engage in activities outside of work, creating a more fulfilling and balanced life. Long-Term Health and Reduced Sick Days - By focusing on my health now, I reduced the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, which can lead to long-term health issues and missed workdays. A healthier body meant fewer sick days, allowing me to maintain consistency and reliability in my professional commitments. After thousands of dollars and years spent on health education, VLT Athlete was created for the busy, on-the-go professional, giving them the tools and resources they need to become their best self for less than a cup of coffee a day. According to the CDC, obesity, chronic disease, and death from heart disease and cancers have been on a steady incline for the last decade plus. I was a stat on that list. I was overweight and developed a chronic GI disease primarily from: - Not taking fitness/movement seriously - The foods I was putting in my body (even though I thought I was being healthy) - Drinking alcohol multiple times a week - Not prioritizing sleep - Living and working in a high-stress environment and doing nothing to help with stress management I spent tens of thousands of dollars working with holistic doctors, specialists, and coaches to transform my life, resulting in countless beneficial ripple effects throughout my life. At VLT Athlete, we give you the resources and information you need to educate and make simple changes in your life for less than a cup of coffee a day. Check us out! vltathlete.com

Three simple things I did to transform my life that led me to found VLT Ahlete: Started following a workout program - This had ripple effects throughout my life. - I wasn't winging it anymore. It gave me a plan and structure. - I could schedule my workout into my day, knowing exactly what I would be doing and how long the workout would take. - It made it fun looking ahead at the workouts for the week so I could mentally prepare - After a couple of weeks, I started seeing results. I was getting stronger and looked forward to my workouts - especially for the mental benefits. - It led me to limit alcohol and prioritize nutrition, knowing I had a specific workout scheduled for the next day. I learned about proper nutrition - I hired a health coach and nutritionist - I learned what I should be prioritizing in my diet and what I should avoid - Cutting out numerous foods started making me feel better - I had more energy, a clearer head, and wouldn't crash in the afternoon - I learned how to fuel for performance - my workdays got more manageable, and my workouts got better - I started seeing changes in my body within the first couple of weeks - I began to feel more confident, which also had ripple effects throughout my life I joined a community - Finding a like-minded community revolved around health and wellness gave me all the support, encouragement, motivation, and accountability I needed - This could be group class exercise, a run club, a martial arts gym, a hiking club, or anything that prioritizes movement. - I found a community that didn't involve drinking alcohol every time we got together - this was life-changing as I realized I could have fun without alcohol and put me into an environment promoting healthy activities. - This helped me create new, supportive relationships. - I was filled with energy and would wake up on weekends without hangovers - this allowed me more time, which led to more opportunities - more time spent with friends and family, learning time for new skills, time spent outside and in nature, etc. These are the three pillars of VLT Athlete - 1. Structured Daily Workouts -Crafted specifically for busy, on-the-go professionals and parents 2. Nutrition Education and Resources - Making it as simple and time-efficient as possible to eat healthy - Healthy meal plans and snacks, grocery lists, quick meal-prepping ideas, recipe guides, what to eat on the go, what to avoid when ordering out or at restaurants, etc. 3. Community -Access to a fun, like-minded community prioritizing health and overall wellness I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars and years figuring this out. At VLT Athlete, our mission is to bring these three resources to our community for less than a cup of coffee a day. Check us out! vltathlete.com
