For WM, working toward a more sustainable future includes growing our alternative fuel fleet. Since 2010, we have reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions attributed to our collection fleet, which serves communities across North America, by approximately 40% by converting diesel trucks to compressed natural gas (CNG). Today, we have more than 12,000 CNG trucks, making up approximately 66% of our fleet. Learn more about our CNG fleet here: https://bit.ly/3DkuwB7

Our Harlem River Yard Transfer Station’s microforest had a strong year growing beside the Harlem River in New York City! This 3,000-square-foot forest was planted in 2023 and consists of 500 native trees, shrubs and grass species and is the first of its kind in the Bronx. Thank you to our team members who made this green space possible and for your commitment to your community.

We are proud to help drive sustainability in our industry, including by operating the largest compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty fleet of its kind in our industry in North America. Why does this matter? CNG vehicles emit approximately 90% less nitrogen oxide (NOX) than traditional diesel vehicles, resulting in less air pollution. As a result of converting our diesel trucks to CNG, since 2010, we have reduced GHG emissions attributed to our collection fleet by approximately 40%. And the future of our fleet looks bright as we continue to test additional alternatives like electric vehicles. Learn more about our CNG fleet here: https://lnkd.in/gxuUrCA9
