At Rhode Island Energy, our mission extends far beyond delivering energy. It’s about supporting communities in their moments of greatest need. That’s why we’re proud to share that we’ve been recognized with the Edison Electric Institute Emergency Response Award for our work during Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024. As our president, Greg Cornett, put it: “We are extremely proud of our crews and supervisors who stepped forward to respond and help customers in the wake of these catastrophic storms. Mutual Aid is the backbone of the utility industry. Our customers are our top priority, and once we realized the storm wouldn’t hit us, we made the decision to lend what resources we could to help.” This award is a testament to the hard work, courage, and dedication of our incredible teams who answered the call, traveling to help neighbors near and far restore power and rebuild hope. We’d like to congratulate the 2024 URI Energy Fellows on completing our fellowship program! Our team is honored to have the opportunity to attend Liam Van Vleet and Atticus Makuch's final presentations in support of their work with our energy efficiency program. We are proud to serve as a mentor organization for the URI Cooperative Extension Energy Fellows program and look forward to the amazing work these students will accomplish in bringing a clean energy transition to Rhode Island!

Our team is participating in the Junior Achievement of Rhode Island (JA) Career Exploration Fair this week. JA manages JA Inspire, a coalition of educators and industry leaders. Together, they’ve organized this interactive fair experience to provide students with an exciting look into fast-growing, high-demand careers available in our state. Through JA Inspire, we have the opportunity to share insights about the work we do at Rhode Island Energy and introduce students to the utility industry.

We believe in the power of giving back to the communities we serve, and our commitment to making a positive impact goes beyond our daily operations. The Empowering Communities Volunteer Program is a long-term commitment to creating lasting change and strengthening the bonds within our Rhode Island service territory.
