Kicking off the new year with a beautiful film about a soapmaking initiative at a primary school in Rwanda that received a seed investment from World Connect, eradicating intestinal worms immediately and keeping children in school and parents at work. Last year World Connect made a second investment in this enterprising school community at Nyabirehe School, which is now building a soapmaking factory at the school to sell soap, distribute it to students, and donate it to families in need. #powerinsidecommunities #powerinsideschools #powerinsideRwanda #hygiene #soap

World Connect is excited begin making grants in #Guatemala and welcomes Martha Lidia Oxi Chuy to lead our community investment and build a locally-led development hub to sustain community investment from the inside. Lidia previously served as Co-Executive Director of MAIA, the only organization of its size led by indigenous women serving Maya communities, and that is redefining education in Guatemala through a holistic model that combines academics, culture and identity, wellness, emotional intelligence, and personal development. Lidia is a fellow of the Vital Voices Engage Program, Gratitude Network, Global Governance Forum, and the Global Council of Community Centric Fundraising (CCF), where she is also a board member.
