Xecs is an industry-driven Eureka programme designed to accelerate the pace of sustainable innovation in Electronics Components & Systems (ECS). Xecs is a Cluster from Eureka, the world’s biggest public network for international cooperation, present in over 45 countries. Open to all – Large Enterprise, SME’s, Research and Technology Organisations and Universities – Xecs provides networking tools and opportunities, gives support and organises ECS community events in which participants can generate and present project ideas, build consortia and find projects in which they can exploit their expertise and capabilities. Being part of Xecs funded projects encourages innovation beyond the state-of-the-art, accelerates growth and helps create a better life for all of us by driving a sustainable, digital transformation of our economy and society.

🚀 The AQUA #PENTA project partners held a final review meeting at DEMCON facilities in Enschede, Netherlands! 🌐 Globally, only 2.5% of surface water is potable. This makes reliable water quality monitoring in water distribution networks very important. Aquatic Qualification with AI #AQUA consortium tackles the challenge to improve the safety and reliability of water distribution networks by improving current water quality monitoring strategies. The collaboration between an engineering company, a data intelligence scale-up, two tech-providers with a large water company, aims to enable near-real-time water quality monitoring, allowing water utility companies and industry to rapidly assess threat levels of adverse water quality events and perform the required actions for mitigation. 🎉 We are proud to announce that the #PENTA Project #PLANtAR has received the prestigious Penta Innovation Award 2024, recognising the consortium's groundbreaking work in advancing #SmartFarming and sustainable agriculture. 🌍🌱 With the global population surpassing 8 billion, the challenge of increasing food production while reducing environmental impact is more urgent than ever. In line with the European Commission’s Farm to Fork strategy to halve chemical plant protection use by 2030, PLANtAR has developed cost-effective, miniaturised, biodegradable monitoring electronics. 💡 The project focused on creating low-cost sensors that detect pests, plant pathogens, soil moisture, leaf wetness, ammonia, CO2, and more. By integrating ultra-low power microcontrollers and exploring printed electronics, PLANtAR is setting a new standard for nearly fully biodegradable devices that deliver precise and smart farming solutions. 🏆 PENTA Innovation Award recognises a particularly significant societal, business, and technological #impact delivered by the project.
