Approaches to data in the European clinical research sphere…… Special interests stream at EUCROF25 on data…… > “The impact of the EHDS for clinical research” - Dipak Kalra (The European Institute for Innovation Through Health Data) explained the main provisions of the European Health Data Space Regulation, covering primary uses and secondary uses of health data, within and across borders. He identified opportunities for clinical research that these provisions provide, describing measures that key actors in the field (including pharma and CROs) should take now to promote key success factors that need to be properly included within forthcoming EHDS acts. > “xShare and Data Portability Solutions in Europe: Implications for Clinical Research” - In his presentation, Vincent Keunen (Andaman7 ) discussed solutions to the lack of health data interoperability in Europe, such as initiatives like the EHDS (European Health Data Space) offer hope. He explored the importance of setting and enforcing data exchange standards, the current state of affairs, and highlighted promising projects such as xShare, Yellow Button, EEHRxF, and XpanDH. > “Federated analyses & mastering heterogenous data: Implementing a scalable approach to FHIR/OMOP compliant Common Data Models” Nora Sagel (Honic) explored the challenges of managing heterogeneous Real-World Data (RWD) and how implementing scalable approaches to FHIR/OMOP-compliant Common Data Models (CDMs) can unlock its full potential for research. On the 30th of January, the TEHDAS2 joint action stakeholder forum took place in Warsaw, Poland, hosted by the European Health Data and Innovation Summit (NIL IN - Sieć Lekarzy Innowatorów). The main goal wass to meet our stakeholders and discuss the #EuropeanHealthDataSpace and its implementation, as well as get insights and feedback on the first draft guidelines and technical specifications made in #TEHDAS2 joint action. The guidelines can be found on the TEHDAS2 website: https://lnkd.in/gzrHNYXg  Catherine E Chronaki, FHL7, FIAHSI technical coordinator, #xShare project and secretary general HL7 Europe was invited to deliver a front row speaker comment at the event, commenting on the guideline draft for #data holders on data description. Catherine commented on the importance of the Guidelines for xShare project and highlighted areas where feedback will be provided: (a) diversity and bias in #datasets (b) HL7 #FHIR standards to support #FAIRdata. Verena Thaler MedTech Europe on stage the third day of the Athens Digital Heath Week: we as medical technology industry see the #EHDS as a huge opportunity. There is a need to work together with the European Commission and related working groups and Xt-EHR project xShare project and other projects. We need clearly defined processes and testing practices. We are looking forward to working together and providing feedback on the concept functional and technical specifications. Next to that Verena Thaler pleads for an open dialgue to move onwards. Great insights shared by Lapo Bertini representing IHE-Europe on the vendor perspective on the #EHDS: what is the impact on vendors roadmaps in terms of mandatory interoperabilty, alignment on #HL7 and #IHE standards, data privacy and security and more aspects? And as well take into account customer needs; it’s a complex world! We need to align timelines as soon as possible and then Industry can act as an accelerator in EHDS implementation.
