Consultancy supporting the roll out of the biodiversity/DRR guidance and other nature/DRR related work The consultancy will contribute to UNDRR Strategic Framework 2022-2025 Objective 3.3 on ‘Disaster Risk Reduction strengthened across the 2030 development agenda and key intergovernmental policy decisions’, in particular to Deliverable 3.3.5 Actions on environment and biodiversity in support of disaster risk reduction and climate resilience increased, including through support for scaling up Nature-based Solution, as well as support the implementation of UNDRR’s NbS for DRR Strategy. https://lnkd.in/epywkf_E

Advice for tourists who visit indigenous territories. If you are visiting a national park or going on safari, be aware that you could be supporting "FORTRESS CONSERVATION". Millions of indigenous people have been illegally evicted from their ancestral homeland in the name of conservation. These evictions continue today and destroy indigenous people and communities. DO's 1.Inform yourself before you go and boycott the unethical travel. 2 PRIORITIZE companies that work closely with indigenous people and share any profits equally with them. 3.RESPECT the culture and the way of life of the indigenous people you visit. DON'TS 1.Support conservation organization that back indigenous evictions to create parks. 2.Visit areas where indigenous territories have been evicted in their territories. 3.Take a video or photo of the indigenous People without their consent. Nature Seychelles' Reef Rescuers project has been driving large-scale #reefrestoration since 2010. Among other amazing achievements, it empowers students to conduct ground-breaking research essential for coral reef rehabilitation. Notably, Viktoria Sturm and Emily Croasdale, two outstanding students, have earned the honour this year of presenting their findings at the prestigious European Coral Reef Symposium #ecrs2024. Our concerted efforts are yielding invaluable skill sets and knowledge crucial for enhanced conservation and restoration. We push for diversity in these efforts, linking national and international talent, understanding that Seychelles with its small and aeging population has extremely limited human resources thus constraining the search for solutions. The current phase of the project is funded by the Adaptation Fund through UNDP and the Government of Seychelles.
