Role Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, driving financial strategy, operational excellence, and business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in startups and consulting, combining financial acumen with hands-on operational experience. The CFO will oversee financial planning, fundraising, risk management, and compliance while fostering a data-driven decision-making culture across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s short- and long-term goals.
  • Partner with the CEO to provide insights and recommendations on scaling the business, fundraising, and market opportunities.
  • Serve as a key advisor on M&A, partnerships, and international expansion strategies.

Financial Planning and Management

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and operational metrics, proactively addressing challenges.
  • Optimize the capital structure and manage investor relations.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee accounting, financial controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across all financial and operational activities.
  • Implement robust financial systems and tools to support scalability and data-driven decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of financial performance to stakeholders.

Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.


Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including roles in startups and/or consulting firms.
  • Proven track record of raising capital (e.g., venture capital, private equity, debt financing).
  • Hands-on experience with financial operations, scaling businesses, and navigating high-growth environments.
  • Background in M&A, strategic partnerships, and complex financial transactions is highly desirable.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with financial software, modelling, and ERP systems.
