Role Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, driving financial strategy, operational excellence, and business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in startups and consulting, combining financial acumen with hands-on operational experience. The CFO will oversee financial planning, fundraising, risk management, and compliance while fostering a data-driven decision-making culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s short- and long-term goals.
- Partner with the CEO to provide insights and recommendations on scaling the business, fundraising, and market opportunities.
- Serve as a key advisor on M&A, partnerships, and international expansion strategies.
Financial Planning and Management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and operational metrics, proactively addressing challenges.
- Optimize the capital structure and manage investor relations.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee accounting, financial controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across all financial and operational activities.
- Implement robust financial systems and tools to support scalability and data-driven decision-making.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, and financial institutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication of financial performance to stakeholders.
Team Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including roles in startups and/or consulting firms.
- Proven track record of raising capital (e.g., venture capital, private equity, debt financing).
- Hands-on experience with financial operations, scaling businesses, and navigating high-growth environments.
- Background in M&A, strategic partnerships, and complex financial transactions is highly desirable.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
Skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with financial software, modelling, and ERP systems.
