Our largest projects include Black Desert Resort, a $1 billion+ world-class golf resort in Ivins, Utah; 150 ski-in ski-out single family homesites and 300+ condos and townhomes at Deer Valley Ski Resort near Park City, Utah; and the under development Cutalong Private Golf Club and Resort which consists of 900 homes/condominiums and townhomes at Lake Anna, in Mineral, VA.
Job Responsibilities
The Director of Events at Black Desert Resort will be responsible for curating, orchestrating and executing the experiences at events throughout the year. These events will bring life and excitement to the resort with the perfect blend of luxury and sophistication for our guests, investors, owners, and the community. You will work to oversee all aspects of event planning and management, ensuring seamless coordination and impeccable execution from conception to completion. These events include, but are not limited to, PGA and LPGA Tour Events, Pickleball Championships, full-scale festivals, large events, seasonal events, recreation-based events etc.
General Responsibilities Include
Developing and implementing comprehensive event strategies aligned with Black Desert's overall objectives and brand positioning
Work in coordination with our Tournament Director and Tour Events team to bring the first PGA and LPGA Tour events in Utah to life with the best experience possible
Identify opportunities to enhance the resort's event offerings and elevate its reputation as a premier destination for luxury events that will bring more occupancy and ADR to the resort
Coordination of a wide range of large events, such as those listed above, while assisting the Catering and Conferences Services operations team with other events such as weddings, corporate retreats, galas, conferences, and private celebrations
Oversee the management of event venues within the resort, including indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards and equipped to accommodate various types of events
Cultivate and maintain relationships with a network of premium vendors
Champion a guest-centric approach to event planning, focusing on creating unforgettable experiences that resonate with guests long after the event concludes. Anticipate and address guest needs proactively, providing personalized attention and ensuring every detail is executed to perfection
Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining profitability. Monitor expenses, negotiate competitive pricing, and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or guest experience
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Event Planning, Hospitality Management or similar field
Proven experience in event management with minimum of 5 years of experience within this space, including festivals, large events and recreation-based events such as pickleball tournaments
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and vendors at all levels
Proficiency in event planning software
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate event schedules
