🎖️ The 4R Group is honoured to announce our signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, deepening our commitment to supporting those who serve our country. With two ex-military professionals on our team, we've seen firsthand the unique skills and experiences veterans bring to the workplace. Our pledge includes employment support, flexible leave for service families, and standing by Reserve employees. We're inspired by one of our ex-military employees who volunteers with The Rawthey Project CIC, a charity providing crucial support to veterans facing mental health issues, PTSD, substance abuse, family difficulties, and many more challenges. This personal dedication reflects the values we aim to uphold as a company. By signing this covenant, we promise to ensure that those who serve have served and their families receive the respect and support they deserve. We're committed to being a positive force for veterans in our workforce and community. #ArmedForcesCovenant #VeteranSupport #4RGroup #TheRawtheyProject

Mental Health First Aid is a valuable resource that can make a difference in the lives of the more than 22 million veterans, their families, and the communities they live in. Family members and personnel working with military and families are often not aware of how to engage veterans with mental illnesses and addictions. In addition to the impact of military service on the veteran, each has a circle of family (significant other, children, parents, siblings, etc.) and friends who are also impacted by their military service. Why Mental Health First Aid for Veterans, service members, and their families? While military service often fosters resilience in individuals and families, some service members may experience mental health or substance use challenges. Thirty percent of active duty and reserve military personnel deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan have a mental health condition requiring treatment – approximately 730,000 men and women, with many experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression. Sadly, less than 50 percent of returning veterans in need receive any mental health treatment. The Veterans Administration reports that approximately 20 veterans die by suicide every day. Veterans are the heart of everything we do. We know that asking for help can be difficult for former serving personnel so our staff receive training to understand military life and the mental health difficulties veterans may face after leaving the Armed Forces. Many of the veterans we support have experienced multiple traumas, and so it’s important that our staff are able to recognise the impact of traumatic experiences on everyday life and are able to respond in a way that prevents further harm, supports their recovery and improves their life chances. Our trauma-informed training is undertaken by all staff – as every meeting we have with veteran matters, whether this is kitchen staff, administrators, fundraisers, clinicians or directors. We want to prevent retraumatisation by enabling everyone to understand some of the ways trauma might affect the veterans who seek our help. We ensure that every interaction we have with them will help them feel safe and confident in the care we provide. We use this knowledge to inform how our whole organisation works, working to principles that ensure we’re operating in a trauma-informed way. These principles include safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration. Look out for our next post to find out more about these principles. #trauma #traumainformed #veteransupport #veterancommunity

REACHING OUT FOR HELP... I'm working with a military family transitioning into civilian life. This is an urgent situation. The family has been evicted unexpectedly from their home in Utah. They have to leave in three days. The veteran father discharges from the military August 1. They need emergency shelter in Utah and need kit NOW. I will be taking care of their coaching needs. A great deal of trauma is involved as you can imagine. I'm finding contacts and making phone calls. I need people to jump in with me to help find emergency shelter for this family. Who can help me? Who can give me resources? Who can make contacts and phone calls? I am Richard Szalecki, pronounced, "Sah-LEH-key". I'm working in cooperation with Concrete Dreams in 3D. I'm hitting the HOT BUTTON. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Freedom isn’t free. It’s a reminder for us to take stock of what we are doing to give back for the ultimate sacrifice of so many. Let’s not forget those that pass on our watch when they come back home. Did you know that suicide is the second-leading cause of death for post-9/11 veterans? Shockingly, 131k soldiers have died by suicide since 2001. We owe it to them to do better. Join us in supporting Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization dedicated to preventing military suicide. Learn more about their work and how you can help: https://lnkd.in/eMDCikTg. Let’s show our gratitude and give back to those who have given so much. Together, we can stop the stigma around mental health and suicide prevention for veterans. #gratitude #giveback #Veterans #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #Veteransmentalhealth #stopthestigma

Today, as we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in our military, we remember their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our country. They deserve our most profound respect and gratitude. Thank you to all the veterans. A special shout-out to our firefighter veterans who gave so much for our freedom and continue to do so for our safety. Your service will never be forgotten. A growing number of firefighters are taking their own lives as a result of mental health issues, including PTSD. There are insufficient local employee assistance programs and a lack of mental health practitioners attentive to cultural differences. According to a 2016 study, the rate of PTSD among firefighters and rescue workers is comparable to that of military personnel who have just returned from combat. Compared to the general population, which has a suicide rate of 13 per 100,000, firefighters have a suicide rate of 18 per 100,000. Let’s continue to address this issue and restore hope to those who have or may be losing it. You are appreciated. 🙏🏽 (https://lnkd.in/gD73DD2E). #Suicide #FirefighterMentalHealth #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #Gratitude #HonoringOurHeroes

Two things close to my heart: mental health and our veterans. This fight isn't over. Our government moves too slow, but on the ground, real work is being done. Organizations are stepping up where others have stalled—getting resources directly to where they’re needed most. I’ve seen the impact firsthand, from my family's military service to the tragic loss of my father-in-law to suicide. This isn’t just a cause; it’s a calling. Let’s move with purpose. Let’s make an impact. 🇺🇸 Join the Mission: Spartanvalor.org #MentalHealthAwareness #VeteransSupport #InspireAndImpact

The VA offers expedited processing for disability claims under certain conditions. Claims can be prioritized for veterans with terminal illnesses, those experiencing significant financial hardship, veterans aged 85 and older, former POWs, individuals with severe injuries or illnesses related to military service, and those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Additionally, claims may be expedited for compelling humanitarian reasons. It's essential for veterans to be aware of these circumstances to ensure timely access to their benefits.
