Can You Have a Relationship Outside of Sessions With Your Therapist? Navigating the balance between connection and boundaries as a therapist is tricky, especially now when therapy isn’t confined to an office but extends into virtual sessions and social media. Clients might follow us on Instagram or LinkedIn, engaging with our posts and even referencing them in therapy. It’s a modern-day reality that challenges the traditional lines we’re taught to draw. So, how do we handle this? How do we stay relatable and human without blurring boundaries? The answer lies in balance. Sharing educational content and personal insights online can build trust and resonate with clients, but we need clear boundaries to keep those interactions professional. If a client brings up something they saw online, it can open a door for conversation—one that’s still grounded in the purpose of their therapy, not our personal connection. Boundaries aren’t about distance; they’re about creating a space where growth feels safe and uncluttered. As therapists, we adapt and navigate these new spaces, ensuring that, no matter how the world changes, the essence of our work remains in that protected space where real healing happens—not as friends or followers, but as therapist and client. It’s a balance we’re still learning, but it’s all rooted in maintaining respect for the relationship and the trust it holds. . . . #aavegwellbeingandtherapy #mentalheathorganisation #cantherapistsbeyourfriend #dualrelationshipsintherapy #ageofsocialmedia

Chemistry sessions, where you get to gauge the connection with a therapist, are invaluable. Here's why ⬇️ 🤗 Therapy is a safe space, and feeling comfortable is paramount. 🤝 Chemistry ensures you're with someone with you can open up authentically. 💛 A therapist whose values align with yours can provide a more meaningful therapeutic experience, fostering understanding and empathy. ✨ Each individual is unique. A therapist who resonates with you is better equipped to tailor approaches that suit your needs. Here are some tips to ensure you get the most out of your chemistry session ⬇️ ❔ Ask Questions: Don't be afraid to ask about their therapeutic approach, experience, and how they handle specific issues. 🧠 Trust Your Instincts: If it doesn't feel right, it might not be the best fit. Trust your instincts; the right therapist is out there. 💬 Open Communication: Share your expectations and concerns openly. This sets the foundation for a collaborative and effective therapeutic relationship. Finding the right therapist is a process of self-discovery in itself. It may take a few tries, and that's okay. When I first tstarted online therapy, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it feel as personal? Would the connection still be there? Would it be as effective? It was a completely new way of working for me, and it challenged me to adapt in ways I hadn’t imagined. 💻✨ Over time, I’ve learned that while online therapy is different, it brings its own strengths and insights: 🌟 Flexibility Matters: Whether it’s adapting to tech hiccups, shifting between platforms, or holding space in a virtual room, online therapy has pushed me to be more adaptable than ever before. It’s a reminder that growth often comes from stepping outside of our comfort zones. 🎧 Deep Listening Is Key: Without the shared physical space, I’ve learned to rely even more on tone, pauses, and words unspoken. Listening deeply isn’t just about hearing—it’s about truly understanding what’s beneath the surface. 💬 Connection Is Still Possible: Whether we’re sitting across from each other in person or through a screen, connection happens when there’s trust, presence, and care. It’s been incredible to see clients feel supported and understood, even in this new format. While online therapy has its challenges, it’s also taught me a lot about resilience and the power of human connection. As therapists, we’re constantly adapting to meet clients where they are—whether in a room, over the phone 📞, or on a screen. If you’ve experienced online therapy, as a practitioner or client, what’s one thing it’s taught you? #LifeInTheDayOfATherapist #OnlineTherapy #Telehealth #MentalHealthMatters

Is It OK to Judge Others in Group Therapy? When it comes to group therapy, judgment often gets a bad reputation. Many people assume that a therapeutic space must be entirely judgment-free to be effective. But is that really the case? Here’s the truth: judgment is unavoidable in group therapy—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, exploring and understanding our judgments (and the judgments of others) can be a powerful tool for growth. Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to face those moments when we feel judged or catch ourselves judging someone else. With the guidance of a skilled facilitator, these moments can become learning experiences, helping us better understand our own biases, fears, and insecurities. When handled properly, they foster deeper connections, build empathy, and challenge us to grow in ways we might not expect. So, is judgment in group therapy a friend or foe? That depends entirely on how it’s used. In a safe and supportive space, even judgment can be a stepping stone to greater self-awareness and emotional growth. What do you think—should judgment have a role in therapy? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #MentalHealth #GroupTherapy #PersonalGrowth #EmotionalWellness #SelfAwareness #HealingTogether #TherapyWorks #ConnectionAndHealing
