𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱! How to design products users are stuck on! I have friends who are into match predictions. Every time they come home, they're either frustrated about their team's performance or throwing insults at their clubs for not winning or losing. In their words: Just this one game! 🤌🏻 (Man U, you do this one) They will even go on and try to explain to me how they were this close to hitting jackpot. (I'm like why you telling me?)🤷♂️ But give them couple of minutes, they're back at it again. I used to wonder why they kept at it regardless of how much they're winning or losing. Well, now I know. The system is designed to give players a reward often enough to keep them interested, but variable enough to hook them. The apps on our phones works the same way. When we go on tiktok, how many interesting videos will you find? It's like the next interesting video is always 2 to 3 videos away. So that hunt to find videos worth liking or sharing is addictive and it makes users stay on it long and keep coming back. This is power of variable reward. Keep you user informed before they click away 📢 Quick reminder from me... I have been making major changes with Shots: Events & Parties and it's loading speed (Should be releasing an update very soon!). I found users would click away/ attempt to refresh after 2 or 3 seconds of being faced with a loading circle. This is obviously not a good thing! Often making loading longer. -> Watch the attached video and cover the right half -> Watch the attached video and covert he left half Notice a difference? Both take 6 seconds One of the circles heuristically informs you how long is left. The other feels like it could load forever. Hopefully that illustrates my point... keep your users happy and, most importantly, on the app! I understand this can't be always be applied, just think about where it could be! #ux #loading #tips

I dunno who needs to hear this, but if you don't have a screen recording app (I use Screenflow and love it), I highly recommend getting one. It's SO much easier to show (don't tell) bugs (and how to reproduce) in your system that need to get squashed. Those assets are great to share in a Slack channel to get the conversation started and SA (situational awareness), but can also be used as a reference point in the issue ticket you create to address it. #ux #ui #productdesign

This week I've covered persona, empathy map, user journey map, and current flow map. I’ll wrap up the research phase with some ways I have in mind to gather essential user feedback: - In-app pop-ups and surveys. - Usability testing of course, whether online or face-to-face. - Analyze user behaviour with tools like heatmaps or recordings, which is quite informative. - Distribute surveys or questionnaires. - Set up a bug-reporting feature in the app. - Monitor support tickets or live chats to identify common issues. Next week I will move on to the definition stage, where tools like "How Might We" (HMW) statements, user stories and etc will help us transform our insights into actionable plans.
