In what can only be described as the continued systematic targeting of innocent civilians, over 100 persons were massacred in the village of Wad Al-Noora, Gezira state, following a raid by the Rapid Support Forces (#RSF); the attack was followed by pillaging and the forcible displacement of villagers. These heinous acts are being replicated throughout Sudan. The city of Al-Fashir, North- Darfur, which shelters thousands of persons displaced from other parts of Darfur, is being subjected to an onslaught of indiscriminate shelling, which has destroyed civilian infrastructure and, according to Médecins Sans Frontières (#MSF), resulted in 1,280 casualties, including both deaths and injuries in the MSF supported south hospital. Homes, roads, markets, and hospitals are being shelled, leaving nowhere safe for refuge. Naming, condemning, and holding accountable all perpetrators of war crimes should be depoliticized; both the international community and domestic actors (political parties, political coalitions, CSOs, and community leaders) need to be explicit and determined in describing what is happening in Sudan. #sudan #warcrimes #gezirastate #darfur #alfashir #conflict #humanrights #displacement

💔 On June 8, the Rapid Support Force (RSF) stormed El Fasher, looting large parts of the city, destroying hospitals, schools, mosques, and civilians' homes, which forced more than 70,000 people to flee. More than 250 people were also killed as a result of the RSF shelling. With the rainy season at its peak, thousands of El Fasher residents were left under siege, unable to access food or shelter, and exposed to daily violence and atrocities. In the recommendation below, we call for the immediate cessation of hostilities in Sudan ⬇️ NOTE: This recommendation is extracted from a recently issued press release by the SIHA Network, that sheds light on the alarming security conditions prevailing in North Darfur State, with a particular focus on El Fasher. [Protect Humanitarians] ⛑️ The war in #Sudan recently entered its 1 year mark. In the deafening silence of global indifference, more #humanitarian #aidworkers are being killed every month. The war in Sudan has led to the displacement of 8 million people and 25 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. Around 5 million people are on the brink of famine and nearly 7 million children are severely undernourished. Humanitarian Aid Workers are being relied upon to respond to these immense needs. But the United Nations Security Council and other key multilateral institutions like the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and states with influence over the warring parties have failed to stop the violence. Parties to the conflict must be held accountable for their commitments, and all States must call out any continued targeting of civilians and #humanitarians. Perpetrators of violations cannot be allowed to continue operate with impunity. The people of Sudan have been left to suffer in silence too long. It is past time that the bravery of the Sudanese people is matched by the concrete actions of the international community. 🗣 We, at Protect Humanitarians, repeat our call for protection of all humanitarian and healthcare workers. They are #NotATarget and must be protected at all times #NoMatterWhat 🕊 Humanity must prevail 🙏 To learn how you can help #ProtectHumanitarians, follow our work here 👉 bit.ly/Protect-H #NotATarget ❌ #ProtectHumanitarians #ProtectAidWorkers #ProtectCivilians #GenevaConventions #ConventionsDeGeneve #ChooseHumanity #EmpoweringHumanitarians #Warfare #IHL #NotCollateralDamage #TogetherForRescue #StopBombingCivilians #LeaveNoOneBehind #BringJustice #EndImpunityNow #JusticeMatters #AccessToJustice #MoreJustWorld #SavingLivesIsNotACrime 🤝 Protect Humanitarians is supported by the King Baudouin Foundation 🙏
