Although the National shortages of clinical staff highlighted by the RCR and SCoR are clearly impacting on activity delivered by NHS-run CDCs, InHealth has successfully mobilised 6 CDCs in the last 12 months in partnership with the NHS. None of these sites have been adversely impacted by staff shortages due to an effective strategy of overseas recruitment, internal talent management and “growing our own”. Interesting that HSJ’s source who claimed that the quality of care from Independent Sector providers was sometimes compromised wasn’t brave enough to be named. Expectations about service quality in our NHS contracts are clearly defined and rigorously monitored and all our CDCs are CQC rated Good. The NHSE throughput targets are achievable and for an efficiently-run CDC can be exceeded, delivering better healthcare for patients. https://lnkd.in/eZrNTtj3

Perhaps the most important aspect of bringing locum tenens pros to your facility is your credentialing/privileging process. After all, you want to be certain that the locums have the qualifications, competencies and licenses to practice medicine within a specific setting. Leveraging the experience, expertise and tools locum tenens staffing services bring can lower your facility’s admin burdens, making sure all locums comply with regulatory standards Leveraging the expertise of such agencies, healthcare facilities can minimize administrative burdens, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and allow their teams to focus on delivering exceptional patient care. A well-managed credentialing and privileging process is essential for maintaining the highest standards of competence and professionalism among locum tenens staff. #LocumCredentialing #LocumTenensStaffing #PatientSafety

Access to healthcare services ought to be more prompt than waiting for the waitress to serve your meal at a restaurant. Data suggests that there were 125,572 vacancies (9%) in the NHS between March and June 2023. According to an article published on Mediscpae UK, the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, as reported by NHS England (NHSE), signals a historic commitment to addressing the staffing crisis within the NHS through what is described as "record recruitment" efforts. This plan, met with broad approval from various healthcare organizations, aims to significantly increase the number of trained professionals across a range of disciplines, including doctors, nurses, dentists, and other healthcare staff. Despite the ambitious targets, there remains scepticism among some experts regarding the plan's adequacy in fully resolving the staffing shortages. NHS Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard has framed the initiative as a pivotal chance to establish a durable solution for staffing issues looking forward. NHSE emphasizes a dual approach that includes retaining current employees in addition to initiating the most extensive recruitment drive in the history of the health service. With staffing vacancies currently at 112,000, the plan marks the first instance of NHSE setting long-term workforce projections, anticipating a potential increase in the staffing gap to 360,000 by 2037 due to demographic changes and the advent of new medical treatments. Over the next 15 years, the strategy commits to recruiting and retaining "hundreds of thousands more staff" to combat these challenges and secure the future of the NHS workforce. FuturaMedix aims to lead the innovations to combat the healthcare workforce menace and ultimately reduce waiting time in the health sector to minutes. #nhsjobs #healthcare #futuramedix #ukhealthcare #ukgov #innovationinhealthcare https://lnkd.in/eyJzuVNM

NHS hospitals with local clinical capacity challenges are switching on temporary support from remote NHS consultants on our National Consultant Network (NCN) in time for winter to help reduce waiting lists and unnecessary referrals. 🧑⚕️ Acting as ‘virtual locums’, via the Consultant Connect platform, the NCN can: 💬 Answer pre-referral Advice & Guidance (A&G) calls and/or messages: our outcome data shows that 70% of calls to elective specialties avoid an unnecessary hospital visit 💻 Review and action e-RS A&G worklists: our integration with e-RS means A&G worklists can be viewed, responded to and actioned as they would on e-RS but up to four times faster 📉 Clinically triage waiting list backlogs or new referrals as they come in: of over 70,000 referrals reviewed, 30% of patients were safely returned to primary care with a management plan devised by consultants https://lnkd.in/e3d6xyQn #NHS #ClinicalCapacity #SpecialistAdvice #ReferralTriage

There are definite positives with the extension of the PCN DES contract although not all questions from the previous contract have been answered. Whilst there is increased flexibility offered under the ARRS, PCNs need to be careful of creating sticking VAT costs in how they structure their supplies between practices. Too often we see VAT overlooked in the additional schedules to the PCN DES and with supplies of staff being one of the biggest costs to practices, VAT consequences should be taken into account at an early stage when considering what wording to include. We have a number of specialists at PKF-Francis Clark Chartered accountants & business advisers who would be happy to help consider how to get the best out of your PCN. #healthcare #PCNs #VAT #NHS
News for Primary Care Networks The NHS has just announced an extension of the current primary care network (PCN) contract up to 31 March 2025, including some key changes. Samuel Trevena, manager within PKF Francis Clark’s specialist medical team, provides insight into these updates. The focus of those changes is to: • Reduce the cash flow burden on practices • Improve staff flexibility within PCNs • Streamline the PCN DES requirements and increasing autonomy These are positive signs, but there is still uncertainty around what the future contract might look like. 👉 Read the full article here: https://ow.ly/G1UH50RE8Ku #PrimaryCareNetwork #NHScontract #medicalaccountant

The 164,000 NHS staff who use Accurx weekly tell us that having a unified communications system is transformative for productivity. 🌟 Unlike recent years, for 2024/25 NHS England has asked trusts to focus on improving the productivity of elective services, rather than increasing activity. There are many ways to approach productivity improvements, from reducing Did Not Attends (DNAs) and On the Day Cancellations (OTDCs) to cutting unnecessary appointments through waiting list validation, direct-to-diagnostic pathways, and patient-initiated follow-up (PIFU). However, inefficient communication often hinders progress. One of the biggest barriers to successfully implementing these initiatives is the inability to quickly and efficiently communicate with patients, colleagues, and other care settings. Accurx addresses this need with a simple solution - digital questionnaires. These help NHS staff in any care setting be more productive by quickly and easily collecting structured data from patients. This allows services to progress patient care asynchronously, review patients remotely, and make better use of appointment capacity. With waiting lists continuing to grow, more elective services could and should harness digital questionnaires to deliver productivity gains. Watch the video and read our blog to learn about five key use cases for digital patient questionnaires in your service. https://lnkd.in/eanrWcNz #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalHealth #Accurx #NHS
