How do we make multi-stakeholder and cross-sector collaborations in healthcare sustainable? 💡   This topic was discussed at today’s international Tour de Health'24 conference, where I was privileged to be part of sharing the learnings from Lighthouse Life Science in Denmark. “Are public-private strategic partnerships in Life Science sustainable?”, Maria Kristiansen discussed during her keynote followed by Diana Arsovic, who introduced the Danish public-private partnership Lighthouse Life Science to address chronic diseases. The panel discussed the learnings and potential of the Lighthouse Life Science to catalyse innovative and equitable action on healthy weight and mental health while simultaneously drive economic growth. Great to see so many people from across Europe attend last week’s “Healthier patient: greener patient” session at the European Health Forum Gastein! It was exciting and encouraging to meet policymakers, experts and stakeholders who are similarly passionate about strengthening health systems, exploring PHSSR research together, and hearing such strong commitments in taking action for the future.    It is clear that health systems must remain resilient to the increased disease burden and care needs created by climate change whilst improving their own environmental sustainability. Yesterday’s conversation centred around key ways this could be achieved in Europe, including by:    🔍 Early detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases     🤝 Facilitating seamless partnership and collaboration across the health sector    💡 Ensuring all stakeholders understand the link between health and sustainability goals  🌍 Integrating climate-based policy solutions that align health, economic and environmental goals    The climate crisis is just that – a crisis – and it isn’t going away. Solving complex health challenges require innovative solutions and shared commitment. How to bridge stakeholders to pull in the same direction? 🌎 In collaboration with Udenrigsministeriet, Indenrigs- og Sundhedsministeriet and Erhvervsministeriet, Healthcare Denmark will host “Tour de Health’24 – Partnering for Sustainable Health Innovation”, this October. The conference will spotlight the power of multi-stakeholder and cross-sector collaborations showcasing Danish best practices and the fundamentals of a thriving health ecosystem. An example to follow is the multi-stakeholder partnership Lighthouse Life Science with a coalition of over 300 public and private partners, including regions, municipalities, pension companies, and knowledge institutions. Utilising data-driven evidence, emphasising implementation, and focusing on international scalability, its goal is to improve health equity and drive economic growth. In a coordinated effort with the embassies in the 13 Danish health diplomacy countries, high-level governmental, non-governmental and other healthcare stakeholders are invited by Healthcare Denmark to join Tour de Health’24 in Copenhagen, Denmark. #ISPOREurope 2024 was an amazing engagement of people joining from around the world to delve into "Generating Evidence Toward Health and Well-being." I walked away feeling energized by the incredible insights and forward-thinking discussions that took place. As I reflect on the #conference, here are three of my top takeaways: ▪️ #ISPOR is "the" home for #HealthEconomics and Outcomes Research (#HEOR) – We continue to stand up for the profession and demonstrate its relevance and impact on global health. ▪️ Great policy is grounded in great science – ISPOR Europe brilliantly blended cutting-edge research with real-world policy applications, underscoring the importance of robust science in shaping effective health policies. ▪️ Real World Evidence (#RWE) is accelerating – ISPOR remains at the forefront and advocates for its use while ensuring high data quality standards to guarantee its appropriate application. It’s an honor and privilege to be part of and help lead a community so dedicated to advancing #healthcare. I look forward to where we will be this time next year and beyond!
