In seven days, African Constituency Bureau for the Global Fund with its partners World Health Organization Afro, The Global Fund, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, African Union, Africa CDC, Wellcome Trust and The Global Financing Facility (GFF) will kick off the "Technical consultation on advancing African leadership and unified voice in Global Health Initiatives (GHIs)". This meeting will strategize Africa's unified engagement with GHIs, focusing on resilient health systems and Universal Health Coverage. Participants will include representatives from GHIs, Ministries of Health, civil society, and other key stakeholders. Together, we aim to enhance collaboration and address Africa's health challenges effectively. Together, we can enhance collaboration and synergy among stakeholders, fostering a coordinated approach to addressing Africa's health challenges and priorities. 

🌍✨ We're excited to share this insightful news article from the European Commission on the recently supported "African Women Leaders – Frontiers in Biosecurity and Biosafety" workshop held last month in Dakar, where Praesens Care proudly participated. 👉 This 4-day event, organized by the African Epidemic Resilience Centre (#CARE), brought together 21 women professionals from 15 African countries to address the growing threats of biological risks and pandemics. The workshop combined expert-led sessions on biosafety, biosecurity, and hands-on fieldwork. 🚚 Praesens Care had the honor of supporting the practical fieldwork by showcasing the advantages of mobile laboratories, particularly the #BIONEAR and portable diagnostic devices. 🔉 “These units have been designed to enable rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases,” explained Idrissa Dieng, assistant researcher at the Pasteur Institute. 🔉 Dr. Chanceline Bilounga, a public health doctor from Cameroon, emphasized the importance of hands-on experience, stating, “You can have all the certifications you want, but if you haven’t practised them... you risk not doing the right thing.” 🔉 We’re proud to contribute to this initiative, which empowers women to take leadership roles in biosafety and biosecurity across Africa. 🌍🙌🏻 💫 A One Health approach #SDG3 taking strides forward in Africa Sharing Nolan’s post, where he reflects on his invitation to contribute to the response to a public health emergency in the Central African Republic 🇨🇫 on Friday, 15th November 2024. A focus on supporting capacity-building efforts to address Mpox and other communicable diseases in the region. Collaboration and partnership at its best, as it should be for #OneHealth. ➡️ On 13th August 2024, the Africa CDC declared the ongoing Mpox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of Continental Concern (#PHECS)—a first for the agency since its inception in 2017. This declaration has been instrumental in: ✅ Mobilising resources across affected countries ✅ Unlocking critical funding ✅ Strengthening Risk Communication and Community Engagement (#RCCE) ✅ Enhancing surveillance and laboratory testing ✅ Expanding human resource capacities for effective responses This work exemplifies the collaborative spirit of a One Health approach—bringing together diverse organisations and expertise to tackle complex health challenges while addressing underlying social, cultural, and environmental factors. 🔴 Ordamed as part of the Kazakhstan delegation participated in the First International Forum on Investments in Healthcare of Central Asia, held on June 26-27, 2024 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event was attended by experts from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization. The forum discussed best practices and innovative strategies for investing in health. Participants explored progressive approaches to expanding access to primary health care, combating tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, mitigating climate change, improving emergency preparedness, and addressing high rates of non-communicable diseases. Another goal of the Forum was to forge new partnerships and commitments to invest in health infrastructure and innovation. This aims to create a future in which health is a recognized foundation for prosperity and stability in Central Asia. #ordamed #ordamedkazakhstan

Yesterday was a historic day for Eastern Africa! The World Health Organization released a strategic framework for the elimination of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) as a public health problem in Eastern Africa. https://lnkd.in/ddSrUTc9 When I started my career over 30 years ago, we were just grappling with treating patients with VL, making sure that they didn't die from this deadly disease. The only available treatments were often toxic, ineffective, lengthy and difficult to administer. In 2003, together with experts from Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, and later Uganda, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative - DNDi, founded the Leishmaniasis East Africa Platform (LEAP). This initiative brought together researchers, collaborators, and partners working to improve research related to leishmaniasis. Our desire was to one day have this disease eliminated. In January 2003, the WHO met in Nairobi with DNDi, Ministry of Health representatives from Chad, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda, and other partners and unanimously launched the Nairobi Declaration to eliminate VL as a public health problem in Eastern Africa. I am extremely happy we are launching this framework today and our vision as researchers in the region is finally being realized. My years of experience working in the field alongside fellow researchers and communities affected by VL has taught me that medical innovation and partnerships, driven and supported by strong African leadership, are essential to effectively combat VL. I firmly believe we can achieve a leishmaniasis-free Africa within my lifetime. South-East Asia is already on the verge of eliminating it. Therefore, like former President Obama's slogan, ‘Yes we can,’ I also believe in my heart that, ‘yes, we can!’ #HopeforLeishmaniasis

Finally, our first major activity under USAID’s Act SWIFT project implemented by the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI) — Regional Alignment Workshop with the Department of Health - Western Visayas Center for Health Development, the local government units of Capiz, Guimaras and Iloilo provinces and Iloilo City, which are the SWIF-TB implementation sites. The activity was also attended by USAID Philippines Office of Health, DOH, Philippine Business for Social Progress / The Global Fund ACCESS TB, JSI / TIFA, PTSI Iloilo Branch, World Health Organization, EPCON, International Care Ministries and Culion Foundation, Inc. The participants main takeaways: 1. Collaboration 2. Partnership 3. Commitment LGU-level alignment and planning workshops are scheduled in the next several days to firm up the alignment and harmonisation of strategies, interventions and activities amongst DOH, CHD, LGUs and implementing partners’, uniting to end TB in the Philippines.

Today, I had a productive meeting with H.E. Mr. Berk Baran, Ambassador of Turkey to the African Union , to discuss deepening Africa CDC -Turkey collaborations in public health. Turkey’s ongoing support, including $3M in COVID-19 logistics funds and crucial Mpox vaccine contributions, is instrumental in bolstering Africa’s health systems and response efforts. Together, we are building a healthier future for the continent
