I am writing these posts for myself ... This is something I recently realised by asking myself, Andrea Verzar why are you writing these posts on LinkedIn ? Journaling has become a vital practice for me. It helps me organize my thoughts, especially when I feel overwhelmed by a multitude of tasks and information. Despite having a Hungarian literature teacher in high school who doubted my writing talents, many others have expressed the opposite view. I chose to believe the latter :-) Writing is my way of exploring and processing various topics that interest me. Instead of limiting these discussions to a small circle of acquaintances, I share my thoughts with a broader community. This approach not only sparks new conversations but also brings in fresh perspectives and fosters new connections. if you see a thought leader announce that he/she is organising a class, run as fast as you can to partake in it. For someone who has been in a particular business for years to come up and want to share his knowledge with you, you must acknowledge it as a rare privilege. Yes! I tagged it a rare privilege because there are thousands of people here who have a depth of knowledge in a given field but they just focus on using that to serve their clients. For a group of them to desire to give back to the community is an act of humanity I must say. While some of us serve clients, we still make time to teach others who want to come into the industry. We could decide to hoard our knowledge, but no, Love and desire to lift others won't let us. When next you see a class from a leader, paid or free, make sure you participate in it. One of the little things that kills one's progress in life is pride. Excessive pride is very destructive How? . It doesn't yield any good fruit but only walks you around in circles . Excessive pride in one's self makes one lose learning opportunities from advanced persons . If you have the opportunity to learn from people who are above you in a certain field or profession . Please sit down and learn from them . Stop trying to compete with people you're supposed to learn from . People with a wealth of experience and knowledge. That have better results than you . I do a lot of mentoring of University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Political Science students. No one ever asked me the questions KeLing Liu posed today. "Is the fastest way to kill your passion to turn it into work?" (Chinese Proverb) The answer is: YES. I rarely write in a journal anymore (I have 32 of them from my days before Zissman Media). I don’t write for fitness or parenting magazines as I’d like to. But, I have developed other related passions, like teaching writing, political advocacy and leadership. And… most importantly, I still love the writing and editing I do in the business! Lin also asked: “What’s the most important character trait you need as a writer?" My answer? Curiosity. It’s what drives every interview, leads the writing process and the creative content strategy ideas we have for our clients and projects.  Lin – Oh, the places you’ll go. Almost finished! 🎉 At first, I would like to find a course to improve my journalistic skills. But I find nothing. That's why I decided to improve my soft skills. As an editor, I often have to negotiate with people. It's not about money. For example, recently I negotiated with an author who asked to delete her article because of negative comments. It was hard for me. Sometimes similar situations are happened. That's why I thought that the course "Introduction to Negotiation: a Strategic Playbook for Becoming a Principled and Persuasive Negotiator" by Yale University may be useful for me. I hope it will be. I couldn't do two exercises because of technical reasons (I hope to finish them later). But I knew a lot of interesting information and received some tips. Now...
