#analyticalchemistry news In the ever-evolving field of #chemistry, the latest research offers a fascinating glimpse into a cutting-edge method for monitoring pesticide residues in food. The study, "Ag-coated tetrapod gold nanostars, Au@AgNSs, for acetamiprid determination in tea using SERS combined with microfluidics," published in Analytical Methods, showcases a novel approach combining Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering, SERS, with microfluidic technology to detect acetamiprid—a common pesticide—in tea. Acetamiprid, utilised extensively to protect crops, can pose health risks if residues remain on food products. This research introduces Ag-coated tetrapod gold nanostars, Au@AgNSs, as an innovative detection tool. The unique structure of these nanostars significantly enhances the sensitivity of SERS, allowing for ultrafast and precise measurement of acetamiprid residues. By integrating SERS with microfluidics, the researchers developed a streamlined and efficient system that ensures high sensitivity while utilising minimal sample volumes. This technology marks a significant advancement in the field, promising a robust, rapid, and reliable method for safeguarding the quality of our food. The practical impact of this work is immense. For consumers, it offers the promise of safer food products with traceable pesticide levels. For producers, it facilitates adherence to safety regulations, potentially reducing health risks associated with pesticide exposure. Innovations like these demonstrate how advancements in #analyticalmethods can directly contribute to enhancing public health standards and food safety. #pesticide #foodquality #innovative #science #research #foodtechnology #healthstandards #analyticalmethods, If you want to know more about #analyticalchemistry news, follow me: https://lnkd.in/d29pbjb9

Nutropy's CEO Nathalie Rolland had the honor of presenting our innovations to a delegation from the Netherlands during their recent visit to Genopole in April. The delegation, consisting of around twenty companies and researchers in the alternative protein sector, provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our fermentation technology to develop the next-generation of cheese & dairy alternatives. This event was an ideal time for us to reinforce our collaborations with this pioneering country in the field of alternative proteins. For more information on their visit, see here (in French): https://lnkd.in/e2SD6PQ3 The Netherlands demonstrates strong political support and proactive measures to accelerate the development of this crucial industry. Following their report in 2020 highlighting the importance of complementary protein sources, they allocated over €60 million towards cellular agriculture capabilities in 2022, paving the way for a comprehensive ecosystem in this field and capturing worldwide attention. For more information on this significant funding initiative, see here: https://lnkd.in/dUbjZ3jC We hope to see further governmental initiatives to support the development of complementary protein sources for a sustainable food system! #PrecisionFermentation #NextGenCheese #NextGenDairy #AlternativeProteins
