📣 IT'S OFFICIAL - Berlin-Brandenburg has the chance to get a joint, highly digital center for science-based startups - #UNITE #Berlin   👏 CONGRATULATIONS AND A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS VISION!   Yesterday, the consortium behind UNITE Berlin convinced at the lighthouse competition Startup Factories.   Beginning of 2024, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action called for the Startup Factories lighthouse competition. A total of five to ten Startup Factories are to be established as cross-university ecosystems with international appeal and strong integration into regional and national value chains.   ABOUT THE VISION: With UNITE Berlin, science, business, and society jointly create a leading, highly digital ecosystem for science-based startups and national and international entrepreneurial talents:   🚀 A new science-based startup every day 💪 50.000 new entrepreneurial talents every year   UNITE Berlin has the goal to unite the fragmented ecosystem in order to strengthen it as a whole. Especially for science-related spin-offs, it will create the best platform for the future success of start-ups.   Internationality, diversity and entrepreneurial responsibility are drivers and success factors. The focus is on seven units: Talents, Education, Programmes, Funding, Infrastructure, Marketing and Think Tank.   🕵♀️ Who is behind UNITE Berlin? The event was a huge success, with 80% of the participants from Life Science Academy for Startups expressing they were extremely satisfied with the setup 🙌 Here are some key insights from the event: 🔑 Pitch with clarity – “Receiving honest, negative feedback is gold. It shapes your growth.”  🔑 Investor mindset – “Understanding what investors are truly looking for in startups like ours has given us a clear direction.”  🔑 Networking beyond expectations – “Meeting people from different fields for short, impactful conversations has led to potential partnerships I couldn’t have foreseen.”  🔑 Act now, adapt later – “I realized that I need to create the MVP, even if the hardware isn’t perfect. As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on an intense yet incredibly successful year! 🏆 We were ranked as one of the best startup hubs in Europe by Financial Times and Statista. 🤝 New partners joined us, including CosiFan Computersysteme GmbH/Fujitsu and Energieforen Leipzig GmbH, while partnerships like TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen were extended. 📍 We proudly launched our third location in Dresden: ExciteLab - A SpinLab Company, in collaboration with Technische Universität Dresden and TUDAG TU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft. 🌍 We ran Womenture a program for female founders, the 4th Summer School for diverse startups and bootcamps in Vienna, Barcelona, and Baku. 💸 Despite the decline in venture capital investments globally, more funding was raised by our alumni in 2024 than ever before! Major funding rounds included Reverion, Reonic, and myo. 🌱 In Hannover, our RootCamp - A SpinLab Company team saw exciting developments: With Desfia FoodTech we brought Spanish FoodTech startups to Germany, while the Smarterra project extended our reach to Italy.
