Sen. Boozeman’s support of the Rural Forest Markets Act (RFMA) is welcome news to NativState. Currently, we’re working with more than 250 small landowners to produce and deliver high-quality nature-based #forestcarbon credits. The support outlined in the RFMA would make it possible for more landowners to participate in the voluntary carbon market and expand beyond the 300K+ acres that we have currently conserved. That translates to new income sources and conserved acres for landowners, high-quality nature-based carbon credits for organizations seeking to offset their carbon emissions, and improved forest health, water resources, and wildlife habitat.
The world has changed dramatically since the 2018 farm bill. That’s why producers have been calling on senators to put more farm in the farm bill. Today Ranking Member John Boozman & his Republican colleagues released a framework to do just that. Read more ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/etJ2vBxK

Why does voting happen on a Tuesday in November? This practice, established by Congress in 1845, was designed for a 19th-century agrarian society, allowing farmers to vote without disrupting their harvest schedules. But today, 12% of Americans are in agriculture. The specific formula—"the Tuesday following the first Monday in November"—was chosen to avoid conflicts with market days and religious holidays. * Harvest season typically ends by early November, making it easier for farmers to travel to polling places. * Mild weather during this time historically facilitated voter turnout, avoiding snowstorms that could impede access. * November strikes a balance between the busy planting and harvesting seasons and the onset of winter, making it an ideal time for civic engagement. Let’s consider how the US elections outcome will impact not just our nation but also global dynamics, including trade and investment flows. #ElectionDay #VotingRights #CivicEngagement #ModernDemocracy #USelections

Years ago, when we talked about #EuropeanElections, the impression was that many voters didn't exactly know why and what they were voting for, and many of the elected officials saw it as a fallback compared to alternatives in their national parliaments. Today, it's very different, and the elections we are rapidly approaching will lead to the establishment of a European Parliament that will have to face challenges that were unimaginable even just a few years ago. It is therefore important to take stock, also on agricultural issues, of where the outgoing of #Agriculture #PoliticalDebates in the Parliament have reached to have as many elements as possible to form an idea of the trajectory of political debates in this area and to try to grasp the future discussion trends in the hemicycle.
Journalists, experts and everyone with an appetite for insights into the European Parliament’s work on agricultural issues – listen up! Leading up to the #EuropeanParliament elections in June, we’ve sat down with Paolo De Castro and Herbert Dorfmann, MEPs representing the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats and the European People's Party (Christian Democrats), respectively. We have asked each of them key questions related to the use of post-patent crop protection products that capture their views on the European Parliament’s work in this area in the past five years, and their hopes and expectations following the elections. “In recent months, we have witnessed heated debates on agricultural issues both in the halls of the European Parliament and on European streets, where farmers have protested on several occasions,” said Pankaj Patil, President of the European Crop Care Association. “As we approach the European elections in June, we believe it is useful to take stock with two European Parliamentarians who have been key figures in parliamentary debates on agriculture, namely MEP De Castro and MEP Dorfmann.” Stay tuned as we release the first set of questions and answers this week!

Announcement: 2024 Farm Service Agency County Committee Elections Now Open Summary: USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees are an important part of FSA's daily operations, allowing on-the-ground input and location administration of federal farm programs. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA). Producers and landowners must return ballots to their local FSA county office or have their ballots postmarked by Dec. 2, 2024, for those ballots to be counted. Tribal members may vote even if they are not farmers. Check out this article that explains FSA elections by using the link in our bio. Why it matters: More than 7,700 members of the agriculture community serve on FSA county committees across the country. The committees are made up of three to eleven members who serve three-year terms and make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. Tribal agricultural landowners 18 years and older can contact their local FSA county office to register to vote. If you only watch one debate this week, watch the Presidential, if however you watch two, watch the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Sen. Anna Hernandez discuss Proposition 134 and proposed changes to the initiative process. Over half the states that have a citizen initiative process require that the signatures come from around the state, Arizona should join this best practice, and ensure our rural (farm, agriculture) voices are being heard. Thanks to Arizona PBS Horizon for having me on to talk about this important issue. And thanks to Arizona Farm Bureau and Goldwater Institute for leading on improving the integrity of our citizen initiative process. #debate #policymatters #rural #farmers #arizona #democracy

Plinths all along the canal to keep trash out of the water! If there were an Animal Party, this would certainly be their top priority. In reality, it's one of the 29 propositions we're putting forth for the 2024 elections, aimed at fostering cleaner and greener waterways. Most of the litter in the water ended up there being blown by the wind from the street. Litter in the street is fairly easy to clean up but once it's in the water this becomes a verry difficult task. Plinths on the sides of the canal can keep the litter out of the water. This is a simple and cheap way to keep enormous amounts of trash out of the water. Read our detailed proposal here: https://lnkd.in/e_xYfaPm We hope to see this proposal appear in the upcoming political discussions. (The images of the animals of our Animal Party are generated using artificial intelligence). Find the other propositions in our memorandum on our website or follow us on social media; we will post one proposal per week. https://lnkd.in/eMjcSZxM
