Across the country during the Future Flight Challenge exploitation year fantastic teams of innovators are enabling and demonstrating progress and the results of vital R&D and creating an assured pathway toward the adoption of UAVs and Regional Air Mobility via the implementation of essential enabling systems, procedures and infrastructure to serve the next generation of flight and it's many beneficial applications. After a visit to Open Skies Cornwall by ITV in January to cover our projects first Atlantic Flights they've headed next to the Channel Islands to visit and report the strong work being led by Volant Autonomy Dr Anthony Lawrenson (under project ALIAS) where their consortia are introducing and testing integrated airspace solutions with the local regulator to enable a pathway to adoption in the Channel Islands locally and a mature route for other regions to become interoperable in the greatness of time to allow inter-regional capability. It is very exciting to see the 5 year investment cycle in Future Flight technologies being realised in the real world in multiple geographies and we must all thank those who had the foresight to pursue setting up the challenge in 2019 (spearheaded by Gary Cutts) and securing the govt investment of £175m to propel it, as well as the private £125m matched investment, by companies (mainly plucky SMEs, stakeholders and end users who believe in better and dream big!) In terms of next steps moving to 2025: there are already legacy workflows, post Future Flight, being developed commercially, where viable, as well as programmes to answer the remaining R&D / Sanbox workflows leading to adoption needed to build on the enabling work completed during the future flight challenge. 2024/25 is an exciting time and culmination of 5 years of public and private investment and development of capability that will define the UKs role in the future of flight, at home and globally. https://lnkd.in/ecqJNFNG #watchthisspace and thanks Rory O'Regan & Louise Midgley for your coverage. International exchange and global knowledge transfer are important components when it comes to accelerating the development of the drone economy and shaping an established #UAS industry in Europe. However, opportunities and platforms are needed for information and networking. As a partner of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), UAV DACH is therefore committed to making XPONENTIAL Europe, which will take place for the first time in Düsseldorf from February 18 to 20, 2025, the leading European trade fair for #unmanned systems and #robotics on land, at sea and, of course, in the air. In order to drive this forward, not only the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM (17-18 February 2025) will be integrated into the overall program as an independent brand. XPONENTIAL Europe will also include an extensive conference program on the topics of automation, unmanned systems and robotics in addition to the actual trade fair. Anyone who would like to take advantage of this opportunity to present themselves, their ideas and products in an attractive environment can now take part in the "Call for Presentations": https://lnkd.in/eDb3E-m5 And of course, everyone should mark the date for XPONENTIAL Europe and EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM in their calendars now. At #EDF25 themed "Shaping the future: Clearing obstacles to commercial UAS operations in Europe", the focus will be on identifying the main obstacles to the further development of the drone economy and finding ways to overcome them together. This is the perfect opportunity to shape the framework conditions for an economically successful #drone economy in Europe through international exchange and global knowledge transfer.
