Boxing Day is full of great deals, but it can also bring unexpected risks that can lead to insurance claims. Whether you're braving the sales, relaxing at home, or dealing with the aftermath of the Christmas festivities, here are some smart tips to ensure you stay safe and avoid unwanted surprises: •Protect New Purchases: If you've scored some great Boxing Day deals, remember to properly insure or protect your new purchases. Electronics, new gifts, and gadgets may not be covered by your existing home contents insurance until they are added to your policy. •Vehicle Claims in Parking Lots: Boxing Day also means crowded shopping centres and busy parking lots. Car accidents or parking lot fender benders are common during this time. Stay safe, manage your purchases wisely, and make sure you're properly covered for the new year ahead #Staysafe #boxingday2024 #holidays #Christmas2024 #GYB #Insurance

Happy Boxing Day! If you are looking for a deal on your utilities today, be sure to ask about: 💡 Rate changes – some retailers offer a discounted rate for a set number of months, but the rate may increase after that period. 💡 Usage caps – some retailers offer a lower rate for usage up to a certain limit; any usage beyond that cap may be charged at a higher rate. 💡 Fees – some retailers charge admin fees, a deposit (prudential), setup fees, daily fees, etc. #UCAHelps #UtilitiesConsumerAdvocate #BoxingDay #BoxingDayDeals

What’s the purpose of Boxing Day? A British friend messaged me wishing me a good Boxing Day- which is not an American thing… …and my mind came up with the following possibilities. 1. It’s a fight day. Random pairings are made to enter the ring and box with each other. Why are they boxing? Couldn’t tell you. Maybe it’s over the last cookies, or over who has to take down the Christmas tree, or just to work off some of the extra calories eaten over the previous 2 days. 2. It’s a day where you get all excited about all the new boxes you’ve acquired on Christmas, and have to find a new hoard space in your home. Cause what if you need these boxes in the future? 3. The day when vampires refurbish their wooden boxes (coffins). Since winter solstice is the longest night of the year- many non-religious vampires choose to do their winter cleaning on that day. But since many do celebrate Christmas, they find the lead up to Christmas Eve and Day too hectic to take on this task- but since it can take all night, they do it the first day after the holiday. When the night is still very long. It’s only logical. Btw- you might not know this, but one of the most treasured gifts you can give a vampire at Christmas time is some Murphy’s wood cleaner, along with a gift certificate to the container store. Which do you think is correct? More options are welcome in the comments. #boxingday #wtf #happyholidays #christmas Pic of Luna sitting by the Christmas tree! Did you know! *In recent years, a 'Boxing Day bounce' has been observed by property portals, with households planning to move in the new year starting their online searches right after Christmas Day. *Boxing Day 2023 saw a record number of new sellers launching to the market for that time of year, while buyer demand jumped by 273% between the Christmas Day lull and Boxing Day. *Despite the usual pre-Christmas slowdown, activity levels are robust compared to last year, setting the stage for a potentially busy Boxing Day surge. *The usual surge in website traffic to portals and agents' websites during the holiday period offers an excellent opportunity for sellers to maximise visibility on their listing. 🎄 Can We Just Call It? Boxing Day to New Year’s Day = Public Holidays 🏖️ Let’s stop pretending these days are “business days.” Honestly, I cannot do another year of carrying on this charade. Nobody’s actually working, okay? Call it people, we're all punching over 0.05 the entire time and let’s be real, we are: 🍗 Eating like unsupervised kids at a party 🍻 BBQs, mates, drinks 🏏 Test cricket 🏖️ Beach, swim, nap, repeat 🎥 Maybe a movie if we can be bothered 🛍️ A mandatory pilgrimage to the Boxing Day sales That’s all that’s happening. They are NOT business days. NOBODY IS WORKING! And if you’re one of the absolute legends, an essential worker keeping the world spinning, you should be paid penalty rates, full stop! So let’s just call it what it is: a week-long public holiday. Draft the petition, sign me up, let’s make it official. Who’s in? #HolidayTruths #TestCricketAndBBQs #PublicHolidayGoals

Christmas brings with it many wonders one of them being the ‘Boxing Day bounce’ 🎁 Rightmove reports that among the many festive activities we enjoy, sits browsing for a new home as we fill ourselves with Christmas pudding Visitors to the site almost doubled between Christmas Day and Boxing Day last year and the number of enquiries sent to estate agents about available properties increased threefold from Christmas Day to Boxing Day 🏡 In addition, Estate Agents reported there were 17% more buyer enquiries on Boxing Day 2023 compared to 2022. Sellers also made the ‘right move’ 😉 with more than 10,000 new properties coming to market when most of us were enjoying some much-needed family time. It’s looking like this year’s Boxing Day bounce could be even better! A number of fixed-rate mortgages are up to 1% cheaper than there were at this point in 2023, while the changes to stamp duty thresholds is putting pressure to complete property sales before the end of March 2025. You have 3 seconds to catch the eye of a buyer online so if you have an empty property now is the time to book to get it staged to make sure your property gets noticed.
