The future of regional turboprop aviation Now one step closer to mass production.

Urban-Air Port and BAI Energy (BAI) will work to rejuvenate and modernise aviation infrastructure in #Italy, by redeveloping a trio of disused #aerodromes to support the rollout of next-generation #vertiports. The announcement was made today (Monday) and is part of BAI Energy’s strategic vision. The first three locations under negotiations are in #Venice, #Piedmont and #Trieste. This collaboration will provide BAI access to Urban-Air Port (UAP) technology and services, including design, planning, infrastructure-supply and ability to leverage UAP’s cutting-edge proprietary solutions to equip aerodromes with state-of-the-art facilities and systems. Supported by Invest Italia and the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, BAI & Urban-Air Port are already working to identify further complementary sites for Phase Two. This will form the basis of a fully connected network supporting passenger and cargo flights. Bristol Airport pioneers hydrogen powered ground support equipment. A ground-breaking airside hydrogen refuelling trial, led by easyJet and supported by several cross-industry partners, has been completed at Bristol Airport. In the first of its kind trial at a major UK airport, hydrogen was used to refuel and power ground support equipment (GSE) – specifically, baggage tractors – servicing easyJet passenger aircraft. Conducted as part of the airline’s daily operations, the Project Acorn trial has demonstrated that hydrogen can be safely and reliably used to refuel ground equipment in the busy, live airport environment. While the short-term objective is to lead to the long-term, permanent deployment of hydrogen GSE at Bristol Airport the longer-term aim is providing the airport with the infrastructure needed for trials and then commercial operations of hydrogen-fuelled aircraft. The trial involved leading organisations from across aviation, engineering, logistics and academia. These include Cranfield Aerospace Solutions, Cranfield University, Connected Places Catapult (CPC), DHL Supply Chain, Fuel Cell Systems Ltd., the IAAPS research institute, Jacobs, MULAG and TCR. The group intends to build on the trial’s findings to develop industry best practice standards, provide guidance to airports, airlines, local authorities and regulators on required infrastructure changes, and support the development of a regulatory framework for hydrogen’s use on an airfield – standards which, due to hydrogen’s nascency in aviation, do not currently exist.... It's good to see the aviation industry taking steps in the use of hydrogen for the ground support equipment (GSE). It's a logical step towards the eventual use of hydrogen within the wider aviation sector. Airports could serve as hydrogen hubs for all manner of logistical equipment and public transport in future.

Given the digital connectivity, minimizing the travel should happen. Avoid. Local spots based sustainable tourism is to be encouraged. The oddity is, for environment related leadership meets, chartered flights are flown. Shows that we are not serious. Replacing HC guzzling engines is welcome.
