Did you know that today is World UFO Day? 🛸 Me neither! But in an attempt to keep my 10-year old amused during the summer holidays, I let him loose on Canva to create a graphic (below) to help me illustrate what I fully admit is a tenuous transport link........ But needs must and now that this has hopefully grabbed your interest - could you spare some time to help RIA Scotland' #Innovation Working Group make the Scottish and wider UK rail sector 'out of this world'?! 🚆💡 Specifically for my rail-focussed colleagues: RIA Scotland is conducting a brief survey to understand the opportunities and barriers to innovation within the rail sector in Scotland and the broader UK, as part of an initiative by its Innovation Workstream members. Innovation here is broadly defined to include not just product development but also new behaviours, funding methods, delivery systems, and solutions, all driven by a collective mindset and collaborative approach. The initiative emphasises the importance of progressing towards a net-zero future while staying within budget constraints and using transformative processes. The collected data will be used to create a white paper highlighting successful examples, which will be leveraged to gain support and identify barriers to improve perceptions among industry clients, decision-makers, funders, the public, and elected representatives regarding innovative approaches in the rail industry. The survey is designed to be quick to complete, and participant input is considered highly valuable for fostering a better environment for future innovation in the industry. Please could you spare less than 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey by 23:59 on the 5th July. Survey link: https://lnkd.in/e4bZGjEG Thank you and 'peace out'! With immense gratitude to Almighty, I am thrilled to announce that our research paper, "Human Driving Assistance: An Insight from a Developing City," has been selected for presentation at the prestigious 104th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), taking place in Washington, D.C., in 2025. This milestone reflects the tireless efforts and remarkable dedication of my co-authors Nahiyan Bazlul ,Ishika Rahman , and Suraiya Afrin Raisa, who played a crucial role in shaping this work. It would not have been possible without their hard work and commitment. Moreover, we are deeply indebted to our esteemed supervisors, Moinul H. Sir and Md Asif Raihan Sir, whose guidance, support, and mentorship have been invaluable throughout this journey. We eagerly anticipate presenting our findings to the global transportation community, where we hope to contribute to the ongoing efforts toward creating more sustainable, efficient, and safe public transportation systems and improving urban planning. Our research highlights key insights into improving bus services, enhancing public transport efficiency, and boosting overall safety, especially in the context of developing cities. We look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions, sharing our knowledge, and learning from fellow researchers and industry experts at TRB 2025. #TransportationResearch #TRB2025 #PublicTransportSafety #ReliableTransport #InnovationInTransport #ResearchForChange #UrbanMobilitySolutions #TransportEfficiency

During the #ConnectingEurope Days, ERRIN, as part of the #UrbanNodesAlliance, launched the position paper "Urban Nodes: Empowering cities and regions to build the #TEN_T". The position paper provides strong recommendations to ensure the involvement of regional and local governments for effective TEN-T governance, including: 🔹 Locally tailored approaches can address the diverse needs and circumstances amongst the 431 nodes. 🔹 Member States should initiate or accelerate dialogue with local, regional, and transport authorities to establish governance. 🔹 Active collaboration between stakeholders vertically across governance levels and horizontally across sectors must be stimulated. Urban Nodes enable the alignment of transport policy with economic, spatial, and environmental policies and places where different #transport modes converge, improving #connectivity, #innovation and #resilience across #regions. Thank you to Françoise Guaspare, Ile-de-France Europe for chairing the working party and to the #ERRINmembers for their valuable inputs in drafting the document: Pieter Faber, Cities Northern Netherlands, Marcus Göpfert, Francisco Vigalondo, Karim Hassan, Huis van de Nederlandse Provincies. ERRIN's Transport Working Group has closely followed the revision of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) regulation and looks forward to developing the 431 Urban Nodes and supporting ERRIN members engaged in its implementation. ➡ Access the position paper and read more about ERRIN's work on TEN-T here: https://lnkd.in/ezHQ_Whz POLIS Network, Interregional Alliance for the Rhine-Alpine Corridor EGTC, EMTA - European Metropolitan Transport Authorities, Eurocities, Scandria®Alliance.

The 2024 Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF) #ITF24 is happening this week in Leipzig, Germany and we are happy to invite you to the side event entitled “Access for all: integrating connectivity, equity and sustainability in transport policy” that is organised by the Ministries of Transport of The Netherlands, Chile, Flanders (Belgium), Ireland and the United Kingdom. In this side event, we will explore the use of accessibility goals and look at the question of how to address the challenge to guarantee the accessibility of essential socio-economic functions for people in an equitable way and, at the same time, reduce the impact on climate and the living environment. A shift from a focus from ‘infrastructure’ to ‘mobility’ to ‘accessibility’ is key in this. We will discuss the various approaches that member states are taking to translate this shift into policies. After opening statements by the Ministers that will be present, and a keynote speech to kick off discussions, we will have 5 short breakout sessions to identify priorities for follow-up. Topics of the break-out sessions are: -Chile: Effort to redefine accessibility to the public transport network. -Flanders, Belgium: Basic Accessibility. -Ireland: Reallocation of road space. -Netherlands: Accessibility goals. -United Kingdom: Connectivity (Tool). Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights from leading policy makers and experts and engage in discussions with us on how we can collectively work towards a greener future for transport. This session will take place on 📅 May 22, 2024, 🕔 from 15:30 to 17:00 (CEST), 📍 Location: MPA4, Leipziger Messe GmbH (CCL). Speakers are: • Jack Chambers, Minister of State at the Department of Transport and the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, Ireland • Mark Harbers, Minister of Infrastructure & Water Management, Netherlands • Marieke Smit, Manager strategy unit, mobility, Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management • Henk Stipdonk, Director, Knowledge Institute for Mobility, Netherlands Break outs will be moderated by: Thomas Straatemeier, Diana Vonk Noordegraaf, Isabel Wilmink, Constanza Gutiérrez Torres, Geert-Jan Baan, Erik Jonnaert.
