I absolutely cannot wait for this ❤️ . I'm already crying (happy, inspired tears). But if you think this kind of moving, informative content is a once-off from the ABC, you'd be wrong. So many people (especially those of my generation and younger), underestimate how good the content coming out of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is. I'm talking well-produced, beautifully crafted, topical, intellectual and most importantly, entertaining content - even if it's clearly done on a tight budget! A few examples of the content I'm talking about... 🥕 I just finished the 3-part docuseries ("Maggie Beer’s Big Mission") featuring Australian icon Maggie Beer on a mission to improve our nation's aged care system, with a focus on food (of course). I thought I knew what it was like inside aged care facilities and what could be done to improve them - this show taught me so much more about the complexities of this issue. 🤯 I'm loving the new "I Was Actually There" series, based on the format of "You Can't Ask Me That", which interviews people who witnessed some of Australia's biggest historical news events. It's a perspective on these events that I've never heard before, and teaches you a lot about human resilience. 🔪 Nemesis (released ~6 months ago) showcases the Liberal party's time in government and follows previous similar docuseries on previous governments - The Killing Season, The Howard Years & Labor in Power. If you're a politics nerd and love watching the power dynamics play out, this is like watching back-to-back reality TV contestant interviews but featuring politicians. Plus you can't go past the old favourites... 🏛 Our Sunday mornings are often spent watching Insiders with David Speers, helping me stay up to date on the political events of the week. 📰 7:30 regularly opens my eyes to issues I'd never even heard about before. 📺 Gruen was probably my 'gateway drug' to the ABC many moons ago, even before I worked in the advertising industry. Now it's a mainstay of our household's TV watching schedule and the format just keeps on delivering 🥇 . 🎵 And who can forget Spicks and Specks - still my favourite TV quiz show of all time (only just nudging out Hard Quiz - another ABC delight). Our national broadcaster cops a lot of (sometimes fair) criticism, but I think they're doing a decent job of evolving into a more digital-first platform ( 👋 iview, ABC Listen & ABC News app), while continuing to produce content that reflects the biggest issues facing modern Australia - and that's no mean feat for an organisation that's been around since 1932. I'm an ABC die-hard and yes, I'm proud of it 😂 .
I’ve been working on this project for a while now and can’t wait for everyone to see it from Aug 20 at 830pm on ABC TV and iview - The Assembly. It’s been an amazing experience and I know you are going to love this group of people.

The best part of my day is reading our customer’s unfiltered reviews. Particularly, when they compare their Rebel experience to a certain cable provider... Why, may you ask? Simple. Their experience with Rebel Full Fibre will always be better. Many co-axial cable households experience throttling during peak hours. Just when you sit down after a long day to watch your favourite show or match, bam. Your 300mbps cable broadband drops to 10. This is almost always due to capacity / congestion issues on their network. And it’s not just you. All your neighbours connected to that cable provider suffer together. At Rebel, we ensure all of our Rebel 300 & Rebel 1000 customers have a 10g backhaul connection at the local exchange to ensure consistent speeds. But don't take my word for it. Hear it from our customers :)

I recently visited New York City for NBCUniversal’s Olympic Hub and found myself caught in what felt like a traffic nightmare—honking cars, road rage, and expensive rides. Back home in Dallas, we're not far behind. Drivers here spent an average of 56 hours in traffic last year, and the situation is getting worse. Local and state leaders have tried to address these issues with new road projects, but it seems like these efforts aren’t keeping up with our city's rapid growth. Recent talks about cutting DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)’s funding make it even more important to improve access to public transportation. How can we stop Dallas from becoming a traffic nightmare? Check out my latest article on Messy Media: "Is Dallas the Next City to Become a Traffic Nightmare?" to find out more.-> https://lnkd.in/gmFgrA6G

Dear Black people... Because we won't build together we still remain like lap dogs to theose people and media companies that dont look like us. Almost all black filmakers still have a master/slave relationship with these people that has created serious mental illness for our people. We could make much more money than we get from white media and distributors but we just cant get away from them. There is still a subconscious dependency. They create the inequality that has most of us living in a bad financial condition and this is entirely by design. They know that we wont organize and they use that to their advantage. They know most of us will accept their money for the films we make....because they know and depend on the fact that we wont organize. If we did we could make 10x the money. Black on Purpose Television Network is still here and want to change the narrative. www.boptv.com

Fascinating listening to this description on The Rest Is Entertainment of the 'total collapse' of an industry. Comedians once would trek to the expensive-but-worth-a-gamble Edinburgh Fringe to be 'discovered' by TV productions, but no more. Because in turn the TV production industry has collapsed. Comedians are fine, BTW, with touring and social media providing more opportunities and money than before. For TV production professionals, not so much. https://lnkd.in/e3u8wnvJ

The obvious indication here is that it might not be the best time to get into cable channels. BUT There is always a contrarian play during big shifts like this. For example, AM radio was dead, dead, dead when Talk Radio started buying up super-cheap AM stations in the 80s and turning them into massively profitable media holdings. Another example: nighttime airtime on cable networks was always super cheap and nobody could make money there. Until informercials started buying up that time and everyone made a fortune. Then came the actual "shopping channels" to do it 24/7. The real question is what is the idea that can turn something of little value into a major profit center? Let's brainstorm: what idea suddenly become viable if a cable channel becomes cheap enough? Think about what comes with a cable station in your ideas: a terrestrial broadcast frequencies (for antennae), possibly some "sub-channels" of other digital frequencies. Definitely some news organizations and political commentary. What could you do with a property like this?
