This week, think about two types of coaching. Giving tactical advice in the moment (like a coach walking along the pool), and coaching later with reflective coaching. Reviewing a recent situation or trend with the hopes of improving the pattern for the next time. And remember - you don’t need to announce that you are coaching for it to be effective; it is better if you don’t. You can learn more about these two approaches in this Rob Luke, BHSc, MA article > https://lnkd.in/eYKMr_Yf

Does coaching work? It does! Research in the field of coaching has increased significantly, providing a broad and varied evidence base for its effectiveness. However, there are some prerequisites which need to be met. 👉 Choose a professional coach who personally fits you. 👉 Feed your inner motivation by dreaming big. 👉 Invest your time into coaching. Always measure the journey to notice the change: the agreed-upon objectives → the actions taken during the coaching process → the changes that followed → the impact of these changes → the lessons learned from the experience. Voilà!

Do you believe in the magic of coaching? Check out this article by the wonderfully talented, joyful, and incredible coach, Connie Liu.
I’ve been coaching, running a coaching platform, and continuing to be an avid coaching student for the past 2 years. Over that time, I've talked to over 200 coaches. Through those conversations, I realized a lot of information only gets shared behind closed doors about the nuts and bolts of building a coaching business -- things like pricing, finding clients, revenue benchmarks. I’m still along my own journey in building my coaching practice, but I'm sharing what it's looked like so far to hopefully remove some of the mystery around launching, sustaining, and nurturing a coaching practice. This is also an ode to all the people who have been part of my coaching journey -- Addison Beaux, Ed Batista, Anamaria Nino-Murcia, Ricki Frankel, Mark Voorsanger, Hugh Keelan, Bryan Hart, MCC thank you for teaching me -- Lucas Levine, Jason Buchel, Jori Bell, Mandy Owen thank you for co-learning with me -- and Amanda Greco thank you for being the start of it all 😊 Hope you enjoy the read: https://lnkd.in/gxTUyaw9

Should I Step into Coaching? Q. Hi Liz, mentoring and coaching are the best parts of my job. I am interested in becoming a part-time coach but at the same time, I worry that I won’t be credible as a professional coach because I have zero formal education in that field. Am I overthinking it? A. The vast majority of people who step into coaching have the same concern you do. They have that concern because they are conscientious and want to do everything they do at a very high level. As they move through the steps to becoming a professional coach they realize that they already have the wisdom, skills and instincts to be a tremendous coach. They only need two additional things: a methodology and process to follow, and an empowered mindset they can practice themselves and share with their coaching clients. In the process of becoming a coach, they learn the methodology and shift their mindset as well. Their confidence grows. If you love coaching and mentoring, you will be a wonderful coach. You only need to step through the membrane of hesitation/fear that stands between us and every adventuresome new project we want take on. Let’s brainstorm about it – drop a note in my LinkedIn inbox!

Connie Liu details how she built a coaching practice with insightful synthesis, giddiness, and practicality - which is who I know her to be as a coach and friend. If you are curious about getting started in the world of coaching, I haven't read a piece that is more succinct or transparent. #leadershipcoaching #entrepreneurship

Sharing out this opportunity to my network with an enthusiastic recommendation. If you are ready to level up your executive coaching or managerial skills, Tara Sophia Mohr’s course is the first place you should look. Like another of my gurus, Ken Cloke, Tara will help you ask better questions and listen more deeply. You will improve your ability to motivate and support your people by shifting from advice-giving to creating opportunities for insight and learning. I also found I was better able to “coach” myself… and I’m a tough client! #executivecoaching #mediation #managers #feedback #inquiry #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #listening #goodquestions
A quick note to say that *today* is the last day to sign up for The Coaching Way, the course where I teach my unique approach to coaching. This course focuses on what I find to be the heart of powerful coaching: creating transformative shifts by helping the client connect to their own inner wisdom, calm and clarity. The course is both for established coaches who want to deepen their toolkit, and for managers, mentors, and others who want to integrate a coaching approach into their work.
