#AivpWorldConference - Keynote: 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬! ▪ Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Ville du Havre , President of the AIVP ℹ Piers are the ultimate interface between land and water. They are the connection between port cities and the planet. Their accessibility has been a key indicator for the evolution of the port-city relationship. They changed from being accessible in the past, to gradually becoming off-limits. Fortunately, there is an ongoing tendency to reopen the piers, establishing a new kind of port-city relationship. How permeable are these relationships today? What flows are shaping these interactions? How are port cities presenting local answers to global trends? How do they fit together? And how are ports reopening their piers? 🗓 27 november 2024 - 11:30-12h30 📍 Lisbon (Portugal) ✅ Registration: https://swll.to/jGwtzjh 🔗 https://swll.to/O8irna4

Environmental DNA (eDNA) is revolutionizing our understanding of biodiversity. By analyzing traces of DNA left by organisms in soil, water, and air, scientists can non-invasively monitor ecosystems, detect rare or endangered species, and track shifts in biodiversity over time. eDNA provides a more accurate, cost-effective, and efficient way to assess ecosystems, offering crucial insights for conservation efforts and environmental management. As we face increasing environmental challenges, eDNA technology opens new doors for preserving our planet’s rich biodiversity and safeguarding our natural national treasures. #Biodiversity #eDNA #Conservation #Sustainability"
We’re currently conducting operations for the third and final phase of our mission in Malaysia. From shallow coral surveys with our scuba team, to ROV dives at mesophotic reef sites to collect environmental DNA samples, scientists on board are collecting the puzzle pieces for a better understanding the marine ecosystem in Pahang’s waters. In partnership with: University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

It happened in Valencia in 2012; in Panama, in 2018, and it will happen in Cape Town, this 2024. Do you know which is one of the most important nautical events in the world and that visits many cities? It's the PIANC World Congress (from the International Navigation Association PIANC SA), which this year will celebrate its 35th edition from May 3rd to May 5th, in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. The congress is a reference in the nautical industry for both the wide number of sector references it gathers and the topics discussed in it. The themes to be focused on in this edition, titled "Waterborne Transport Ready for the Future: Unlocking Africa," include, among others: ⛴️ Port dredging. 🛥️ UKC AIS systems for marine radars. 🛳️ Waterways for recreation and water management. 🌊 Waves and tsunamis. ⛴️ Rehabilitation and management of ports, … All of them from the perspective of the advances provided by AI and with the aim of creating a sustainable maritime sector. The MSI team will be there, participating in the talks as speakers on a topic of maritime ports for infrastructure investments in Africa and visiting the ports of the oldest coastal city in South Africa. ✏️ If you're going, let us know. We'd be happy to meet you. #PIANC #35PIANCWorldCongress #MaritimeEngineering #NauticalEngineering #WorldMaritimeEngineering #PortSustainabilityAfrica #CapeTown

Genoa Node: the high-Speed/high capacity rail line in the heart of the city In 1974, construction began on the Port of Prà in Genoa, which has since become one of Italy’s largest and most modern maritime hubs, handling over 1.6 million containers annually. Containers are transferred to freight trains for distribution across Europe, and with the upcoming high-capacity rail services, the journey will become even faster. The final segment of the Third Giovi Pass will connect Genoa to Milan, creating a “priority corridor” to boost commercial traffic and accelerate the city's development. 🏔 Under the Central Mountains project, financed by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, six Pilot Actions have the aim of changing the stakeholders’ mindset towards more cooperation and coordination of actions in the Alpine and Carpathian areas. 🎙️ Today, we welcome a brief commentary from EGTC Alpine Pearls, which is coordinating one of these: «The EGTC Alpine Pearls is getting a makeover, thanks to the contribution of its members and the Central Mountains project. Indeed, we must always be flexible and ready for change, especially when it comes to transnational cooperation. Within the framework of our Pilot Action, we are thus considering possible changes to the EGTC structure itself through the approach that has always distinguished us, open to listening and always involving our stakeholders, step by step».
