Western Steel in City of Colorado Springs is killing it with their new Mazak North America laser machines. This family biz, around since 1904, has come a long way from being a scrap yard. Now they offer all sorts of services like plasma cutting, beveling, and laser cutting in their 50,000 sq. ft. facility.
Micah Olesky, the VP, said they’ve always put customers first, no matter the order size. Their new Mazak OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO 15kW laser is a beast, cutting parts faster and cleaner than their old plasma and waterjet machines. This bad boy does it all without needing much tweaking, which means less downtime and more parts out the door.
What’s really cool is how they’ve faced the skilled labor shortage. With the older generation retiring, it’s tough to find workers who know their stuff. But these fancy new machines are making the jobs easier and getting the younger crew excited about the work.
Mazak didn’t just sell them the machine and bounce. They provided on-site training and quick support, making sure Western Steel’s team was up and running smoothly. This partnership is a win-win, keeping Western Steel at the top of their game.
Props to Western Steel for embracing new tech and Mazak for the awesome support! This is what keeping up with the times looks like.
