Brace yourselves, folks - we've got something special for you. 🌟 We've been on a journey with Make-A-Wish Foundation, shadowing a troop of brave, incredible Wish Kids. Their mission? To create a masterpiece, to paint their dreams on a canvas as vast as their spirits. As we filmed this documentary-style video, we didn't just capture colors on canvas. We captured resilience, strength, and the sheer joy these kids embody. We interviewed families, heard their stories, and experienced firsthand the profound impact Make-A-Wish has on each of them. But this film is more than a behind-the-scenes peek. It's a tribute to these young warriors, a token of appreciation for the donors, and a testament to the transformative power of a wish. The grand reveal? At a gala, where this artistic feat takes center stage and goes under the hammer. The goal? To transform more lives, one wish at a time. Stay tuned for the video – it's not just an unveiling, it's an experience.

I deleted my post on LI this morning. It didn’t feel right with everything going on in the UK right now. I watched The BBC documentary on Linford Christie last night. It showed the highs of Christie’s career as he became the only British man to have won gold medals in the Olympics, Worlds, Europeans, and Commonwealth Games. But it also starkly portrayed the obstacles he faced from the Metropolitan Police, the British public, the press, particularly “The Sun”, as a Black athlete during the 80s. And we’re seeing the same today. The riots in Southport with the EDL are just like those in London all those years ago in 1981. It’s a stark reminder of how little has changed. It is a terrifying reality. I don’t know what I can say, but I can’t sit here in silence and pretend this isn’t happening. Here are some organisations that are providing support and help in the UK: ➡️Aashna ➡️BAATN ➡️Bayo ➡️BLAM UK ➡️Boloh helpline ➡️Inspirited Minds ➡️SEEAC ➡️Spark and Co UK ➡️Taraki Rise UK also have some great resources. I think some are from 2020, but they're still as relevant today: Let's keep sharing any organisations who can help. #awareness #repost

🇺🇲 #respect There are many touching and appropriate tributes being posted today - 9/11 To me the day can be summed up in one word: Respect 🇺🇲 Respect for those who died 🇺🇲 Respect for those impacted 🇺🇲 Respect for the heroes who responded When addressing a memorial or even a celebration - take the time to respect those who are celebrating or commemorating. This includes: ⚡️Knowing the details of the event ⚡️Knowing the names of those that invited. you to speak ⚡️Knowing the names of the hosts ⚡️Understanding the meaning of this event to both the hosts and the attendees ⚡️Understanding your role amongst any others who may be addressing this event ⚡️Respecting their time 🎤 Because as a speaker - an MC or keynote - you have a lot of power invested in you. Power to control the energy of the event and the power to influence people's experience. 💞 Respect them and you will gain their hearts. 🎓 This is not a hack - this is about being genuine. Make your 9/11 meaningful by showing respect to those that deserve it. #publicspeaking #stagefright #selfconfidence #communication

Do you have a Black Lives Matter sign in front of your house? If you have kids, do your kids know what Black Lives Matter means to you? Your sign offers a great opportunity to talk to your kids about white supremacy. Do your kids know that the police do not act in a vacuum? Fear, control and violence are part of the construction and maintenance of the structure of white supremacy in America. Our police departments grew directly out of slave patrols. They act as a critical part of the control and violence that upholds unequal and unjust outcomes for communities of color. I’m not anti-police. I’ll be the first one to call 911 in an emergency. And I have once experienced the relief and joy of knowing the police were there to protect me (I barely remember the danger, but I remember the feeling of being protected - it was amazing). I also know that involving the police means that anyone who looks like me is in greater danger. I know that anyone with mental health difficulties, autism, or other developmental deficits, is in greater danger. And I believe it doesn’t have to be this way. I believe if we can talk to each other and our kids about race, we can build better, safer police departments and a better, safer country. I know that talking to your kids about race can be difficult; I’d like to help. I’m offering a developmentally appropriate guide for talking to kids from 0-18 about race. You can get it for free here. https://lnkd.in/gVt5GwGP
