Did someone say #automation? Another step closer to the "hey #gpt, Check this site and determine the flows for drainage analysis" One of the most common #errors in #hydrological modelling is catchment delineation, or determination of area and slope for packages like RORB. Zhenlong has shared a #QGIS based alternative to set up catchments and sub catchments in natural language. aka heaps easier to do useful stuff!
I'm excited to share our recent research on autonomous GIS with the development of a "GIS Copilot" that allows users to perform spatial analysis in QGIS using natural language for both vector and raster data. The Copilot was tested with more than 100 spatial analysis tasks spanning various complexity levels. The result shows that the GIS Copilot has strong potential in automating foundational GIS operations, with a high success rate for basic and intermediate tasks, while challenges remain in achieving full autonomy for more complex tasks without explicit guidance. This work represents a promising step toward the development of autonomous GIS, aiming to make spatial analysis more accessible to all. Kicking Off a New Semester Full of Exciting Challenges! It’s been two weeks since the semester started, and I’m already diving into some exciting work! 📚 I’m thrilled to continue as a student assistant for the Méthodes d’Estimation course at EPFL, where I get to support my peers and further deepen my understanding of estimation techniques. 🤖 For my semester project, I’m working on a deep learning-based LiDAR matching project, where the goal is to formulate an advanced training procedure for a 3D descriptor used in point-to-point matching. This involves modifying a training loop to load overlapping point patches, generating a training dataset from LiDAR scans over EPFL, and adjusting the loss function to integrate feature vector similarity. The project will also explore cross-sensor matching between LiDAR and photogrammetric point clouds. 💡 Alongside this, I have another project focused on information retrieval and recommendation systems, which is proving to be a fascinating dive into how data is used to personalize and enhance user experiences. 📖 On the tutoring side, I’m continuing my work with Alim Institute, helping EPFL freshmen navigate the challenges of their first year. It's incredibly rewarding to see the progress students make in such a short amount of time! It’s shaping up to be a semester filled with learning, growth, and challenges, and I couldn’t be more excited! Looking forward to sharing more updates as I progress. #DeepLearning #LiDAR #InformationRetrieval #EPFL #Tutoring #AI #StudentLife #Research
