June is Men's Health Month. This month is a time to bring awareness to several issues surrounding men's health and identify some important steps that can be taken to improve mental and physical health. Men tend to stay silent about health issues and often wait longer than women to seek help from a doctor. This has led to men being more often affected by preventable diseases compared to women. The same can be said in mental health, which is often an ignored topic by men. Talking about your mental health, seeking treatment for health issues and leading a healthy lifestyle are all ways that men can participate in Men's Health Month, and make a positive overall change in their lives. #menshealthmonth2024

The BMJ Global Health states, “[Social Prescribing] connects individuals to non-clinical services and supports that address social needs, such as those related to loneliness, housing instability and mental health. At the person level, social prescribing can give individuals the knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence to manage their own health and well-being.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/4evFoKg #ArtPharmacy #Healthcare #Wellness #MentalHealth #SocialPrescribing

Last weekend, we had a critical conversation about men's mental health with Dinesh Sangroula, MD. Did you know that in 2019, nearly 80% of suicide deaths in the U.S. were among men? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Violent Death Reporting System and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, men are more than three times more likely to die by suicide than women, with the highest rates occurring after age 65. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent fathers, sons, brothers, and friends. It's crucial to understand the factors that contribute to these alarming trends. Let's work together to break the stigma. #MensHealth #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #SupportEachOther [Link to the study] (https://lnkd.in/e4NvF-Xf)
