📍#ShippingNews📍 ✅ #REGENT Craft Inc has engaged 🤝 Lloyd’s Register to provide certification and advisory services 🖋 for its ‘wing-in-ground-effect’ seaglider vessels. ✅ The company already has an orderbook of 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ seagliders, worth 💰9bn, from clients all over the world. They include ferry companies including Brittany Ferries, which would like to deploy them on the English Channel, and Germany’s FRS, which runs ferry services between Germany and Sweden. ✅ The ‘wing-in-ground’ seagliders operate within one wingspan of the water surface and are classed by the IMO as 👉 WIG ‘Type A’ craft. They are therefore subject to maritime regulations 🛳 and will be operated by specially trained mariners, ❌ not pilots. ✅ REGENT, an acronym for #Regional #Electric #Ground #Effect #Nautical #Transport, expects to have the first commercial ‘Viceroy’ seagliders, with capacity for 12 persons, in operation by 👉 ‘mid-decade’. Not all vessels in our area can be serviced by SWATH. For vessels with a low freeboard we use one of the 3 smaller open launches the mothership has on board. Also ‘Jet drive’ for more safety. When the weather gets choppy, we can still use the smaller launch up to around 2,5m wave height, all a bit depending on the frequency and direction and not to forget the draft of the -to be- piloted vessel. With the swath we can keep working till higher waveheights, until mother nature shuts us down. ⚓ Happy World Day of Marine Aids to Navigation! Today reminds us of the essential importance of safety equipment and other navigation services as part of safe water transport. Traditional maritime safety equipment includes visually noticeable devices set up for marking waterways, such as lighthouses, beacons, buoys, and line markers set up to mark waterways. The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) defines maritime safety equipment more broadly: safety equipment includes all external devices, systems, or services intended to enhance the safe and efficient navigation of individual ships and/or vessel traffic.
