According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer (both small cell and non-small cell) is the second most common cancer in both men and women in the United States (not counting skin cancer). The most effective way to find lung cancer at its earliest stage is with a low-dose CT lung cancer screening. A low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening for lung cancer is a specialized test that is used to find lung cancer before it is symptomatic and before it has spread. Talk to your doctor to see if a LDCT is right for you! https://lnkd.in/gjusQFJ2

82% of eligible individuals are choosing not to undergo potentially life-saving lung cancer screening, according to a new study released by the American Cancer Society. Lung cancer is the country's leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with most cases not caught until a late stage when the survival rate is only 8%. When identified early, lung cancer is treatable. As early stages are largely symptom-free, its essential to follow ACS recommendation for annual screenings. Learn more about annual lung cancer screenings: https://bit.ly/4b6Df58

METASTATIC CANCER Metastatic cancer refers to cancer that has spread beyond the point of origin to other distant areas of the body. Metastasis is a word used to describe the spread of cancer. Unlike normal cells, cancer cells have the ability to grow outside of the place in your body where. they originated. When this happens, it's called metastatic cancer, advanced cancer or Stage IV cancer. The most common sites for cancers to metastasize include the lungs, liver, bones and brain. Other places include the adrenal gland, lymph nodes, skin and other organs. Some people will have minimal or no symptoms of metastatic cancer. In most cases, metastatic cancer is not curable. However, treatment can slow growth and ease many of the associated symptoms. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinking #snsdesignthinkers

According to the American Cancer Society, Lung Cancer is the Leading Cause of Cancer Death in the United States. 🫁 About 80% of lung cancer deaths are thought to result from smoking 🫁 Lung Cancer accounts for about 1 in 5 of all cancer deaths 🫁 Screening with low-dose CT can help detect lung cancer at its earliest stage, resulting in better outcomes Low-Dose CT is a quick and painless screening tool that uses low doses of radiation, comparable to a mammogram, to make detailed images of your lungs. These images are used to detect lung cancer at its earliest stages. https://lnkd.in/gmHkqEVN

Hot Topic of the Week: Cancer Dormancy. Cancer dormancy is a critical stage in the development of cancer. At this stage, cancer cells are essentially in a dormant state and do not actively proliferate, but remain viable and metabolically active. This dormant state can persist for months or even years, during which the cancer is often clinically undetectable. Understanding cancer dormancy is crucial because dormant cancer cells can be reactivated by internal or external factors, leading to cancer recurrence and metastasis.
