BAY PLAN Container Stowage Planning, also known as “Bay Plan” is the process of assigning space for containers onboard ships in a manner by bay-row-tier that results in maximum onboard safety of crew and cargo, stability of the vessel, optimum utilization of space while also achieving economy in the cost of transportation. Stowage planning is also aimed at attaining efficiency in the handling of containers during the course of a ship’s voyage. To illustrate a case in point, the right stowage planning and its execution ensure that containers once loaded need to be handled again only at their final port of destination, thus eliminating the need to re-position them inside the ship while loading and discharging other containers at various ports of call during its voyage. #shipping #vessel #marine #navalarchitecture #seamanlife

🚢 Strategic Upgrade Alert: Pier No. 2 Hopper Replacement🚢 In 2022 and 2023, we completed a strategic berth dredging to accommodate larger ships, increasing our delivery capacity from 6,300t to 9,500t. Now, in 2024, we are increasing the hopper capacity from 9t to 15t to enable a more consistent flow of material to the discharge point, thus shortening discharge and idle times for ships. This enhancement will allow us to handle larger ships, effectively minimising ship movements and optimising operational efficiency. A key objective of this upgrade is the implementation of key safety improvements, ensuring the longevity and safety of our boatmen, employees, and contractors during inspection and maintenance activities. What is LOLO vessel? Lift-on/lift-off (LoLo) vessels are specialized cargo vessels equipped with on-board cranes designed to efficiently load and unload various types of cargo. Unlike other types of ships that rely on external port infrastructure or equipment for cargo handling, LoLo ships have their own integrated cranes, enabling them to self-manage the loading and unloading operations. These cranes can lift heavy containers, machinery, and other goods from the ship’s deck and safely place them onto the dock or vice versa. It can carry a staggering 23,990 containers, making it the third largest container vessel ever constructed. Evergreen Marine has ordered a total of 13 ships.
