Last week we received the visit in our facilities located in the 📍PCTT of several partners of the A-IQ Ready project in which ARQUIMEA Research Center, along with 49 other European institutions and companies🔝, participates. On this occasion, the researchers 👨🔬 who visited us were Johannes Wesseler from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg University (Germany) and Andrejs Cvetkovs and Rihards Novickis from the EDI - Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (Latvia). This meeting brought together components for quantum sensing that have been developed separately by several institutions 🤝 and our research center since its #Quantum orbital. The aim of the A -IQ Ready project is to anticipate and address global environmental problems, social inequality and future geopolitical changes and to increase Europe's competitiveness through technologies such as Artificial Intelligence🖥️, the Internet of Things, robotics 🤖 and biotechnology🧫. We are extremely proud to share that our student, Mikel Casals, represented the Nanonetworking Center in Catalunya (N3Cat) at the Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning (QTML 2024) Conference, held in Melbourne, Australia. During the event, Mikel showcased his research on Quantum Graph Neural Networks (QGNNs) which he did as part of his Master’s thesis work. Under the supervision of Prof. Eduard Alarcon at N3Cat and in collaboration with our esteemed colleagues—Michele Grossi, Sofia Vallecorsa from CERN, Vasilis Belis from ETH Zürich and Elías Fernández-Combarro Álvarez from Universidad de Oviedo and CERN—Mikel’s research addresses key challenges in handling graph-structured data with quantum machine learning models on near-term devices. His work introduces the Guided Graph Compression (GGC) framework, which enhances the ability to compress and process graph data efficiently, even on today’s noise-prone quantum hardware, by combing the reconstruction and classification loss functions of a graph autoencoder and a classical/quantum classifier respectively. The framework bridges classical and quantum machine learning, demonstrating how guided compression enables quantum and classical classifiers to achieve better performance than their uncompressed counterparts. The approach was tested on high-energy physics tasks, such as jet tagging, and holds potential for advancing practical quantum computing applications in other complex domains. Link to the abstract : https://lnkd.in/gKdYaJyh We are deeply grateful to our collaborators for their invaluable support, guidance, and insights, which were instrumental in shaping this research. At N3Cat, we take immense pride in fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and works like this are a testament to our shared belief in the immense potential of scientific collaborations across institutions. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mikel for his remarkable and exceptional work, and we wish him the best for his future career and look forward to crossing paths again !!! #QuantumComputing #MachineLearning #QuantumMachineLearning #GraphNeuralNetworks #QuantumGraphNeuralNetworks #CERN #Research #Technology #HEP #Innovation #QTML2024 #N3Cat

I am excited to share my recent peer-reviewed article in ApJ on implementing new physically-motivated numerically-calibrated models of star formation in cosmological simulations of galaxy formation. This work represents nearly two years of effort within the star formation working group of the Learning the Universe (LtU) collaboration (https://lnkd.in/dj8qNeaz). The article provides a detailed guide on how to implement the Pressure-Regulated, Feedback-Modulated (PRFM) model (Ostriker & Kim 2022) of star formation in various galaxy formation simulation setups, ranging from resolved/unresolved isolated galaxy to cosmological simulations. To encourage open science and reproducibility, all codes to generate ISM property maps from TNG50 and to reproduce all figures in the article are available at GitHub link below, try it out! At ADVACAM, we are driven by innovation. 🏃♂️ It sounds like a cliche, but it's true. We are always looking for ways to improve our detectors and, more importantly, for new ways to apply our technology. ADVACAM Cameras stand out because of their ability to obtain data, which can then be transformed into an image, as well as analysed in it's raw form. 🎯 That is why our detectors benefit so many fields - they can advance medical therapy or material testing as well as broaden our knowledge of particle physics and space radiation. Our research team is responsible for all our knowledge. Here's a portion that David Hladík, Kateřina Sýkorová, and Carlos Granja shared at #iWoRiD. #SpaceRadiation #RadiationMonitoring #MachineLearning #AI #ParticleDetection #ParticlePhysics #Radiation
