Did you know? Every year, almost 300,000 children are born with sickle cell disease worldwide. In 2015, this genetic disease affected almost 4.4 million people worldwide, making it the most common genetic disease in the world. Since 2020, in partnership with the LCDM-Solimad association, 1001fontaines and Ronontsika have launched a programme to provide daily access to drinking water for people with sickle cell disease. Today, 131 people benefit from this vital programme. Drinking water for sickle cell patients helps to reduce infections, prevent complications and improve patients' overall health. Here, Mr Olivier, who suffers from sickle cell anaemia, comes to collect his water bottles. Ella Balasa lives with cystic fibrosis, a rare genetic lung disease. As she contracted more respiratory infections, antibiotics proved to be more and more powerless.
