#NewArticle Museographic narrating of dissonant heritage in Tianjin’s former international concessions Maria Gravari-Barbas, Sandra Guinand, Yue Lu & Chensi Shen Concessions—defined as the urban elements built by Western powers while ‘occupying’ various parts of the Chinese territory—have recently been granted heritage status by the Chinese national and local authorities. However, in many respects, they are ‘dissonant’ heritage sites since they are the result of the several-decade-long ‘colonial’ presence in Tianjin of nine foreign powers. Question for the #museum & #heritage hiveminds: can you recommend any audience research into the motivations & reactions of visitors to historic houses? There was an excellent study by Cadw (Barriers to visiting heritage  sites 2022) and the equally excellent paper by Aileen Peirce ( “It Feels Like You Have Stepped Back in Time” 2020) but other than that I can find next to nothing. #museums #audienceengagement #visitorengagement #visitorexperience #audienceresearch

Visited some of the National Museums Liverpool yesterday when I took some time off. As well as being key contributors to the tourism industry, museums are vital in educating us about how our world came to be what it is today. However, funding is often a challenge for them and we can help them write funding proposals. One of the museums visited was the International Slavery Museum. We may think that the evil of slavery is consigned to history but is it still prevalent in many countries. Companies when writing tenders and grant applications are often required to demonstrate that slavery isn't used in any part of their supply chains and we can also assist with that. #modernslavery #antislavery #museums #tourism #grantfunding
