Increasing energy-awareness creates a demand for well-insulating construction materials. The success of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) is the consequence. Wehrhahn GmbH responds to this demand and develops plants for the production of AAC blocks and panels. Starting with low-capacity plants with little automation, Wehrhahn gradually develops fully automated high-performance plants for AAC precision blocks and panels with a daily output of up to 2,000 m3 – 50 to 80 road trains per day – enough for 20 to 25 homes. As the maritime industry continues its transition to more sustainable practices, minimising fuel consumption to reduce carbon emissions is a key priority for our customers. Innovative coatings are an accessible and proven method of contributing to these emissions reductions. However, minimising fuel consumption through the use of antifouling paint requires a deep understanding of the relationship between efficient vessel operations and the marine environment. It is not enough to ensure that a ship is protected from marine growth, our coatings developers also tailored the solution to provide a hydrodynamically effective boundary layer to minimise hull-to-water friction. Nippon Paint Marine’s R&D team developed a patented hydrogel water-trapping technology that significantly reduces friction between the ship and the sea when the ship is underway, resulting in fuel savings of up to 14.1%. Completion of the conveyor belt bridge in Linz made out of greentec steel ✅ By closing the gap in conveyor bridge 2, the new conveyor line for the raw material supply to the hybrid steelplant (#EAF) has been finished. The installation was a bit of a challenge, because the heaviest of the three bridge sections weighed an impressive 190 tons, which corresponds to the weight of around 120 compact cars 🚗 Completing a task is always good, but even better is that the construction of the conveyor bridge is made of carbon reduced steel from the greentec steel edition 🌿 The greentec steel project of voestalpine is an step-by-step plan that makes a valuable contribution to the achievement of the climate goals. As a first step, the voestalpine Group plans to replace two blast furnaces with two electric arc furnaces (EAFs) by the year 2027.
