Driving Innovation Through Strategic Partnerships: Accelerating Malaysia’s Energy Transition Partnerships aren’t just about meeting targets—they’re about driving innovation and paving the way for sustainable energy solutions. As part of AMCHAM Malaysia (American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce) Energy Transition Committee (ETC), GE Vernova, alongside other industry leaders, is aligning efforts to accelerate the adoption of Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (#CCUS) technologies. These technologies are crucial for reducing emissions and achieving Malaysia’s energy goals, particularly in support of the CCUS pillar of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (#NETR). We are grateful to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and the ministry’s CCUS Coordination Unit for the opportunity to engage in open discussions on #decarbonization. These conversations are essential as we work together to contribute and make significant strides in the energy transition, ensuring that the NETR's vision becomes a reality for a sustainable future in Malaysia. By leveraging the strengths of both government and industry, we are well-positioned to drive meaningful progress in the #energytransition, making #Malaysia’s decarbonization goals achievable. With a relentless passion for innovation and a diverse portfolio of leading technologies, GE Vernova is continuing to electrify the world while simultaneously decarbonizing it. #EnergyTransition #Decarbonization #CCUS #Sustainability #Innovation #Partnerships #NETR Sashvin raj Krishnakumar (KK) PG Ravikumar Nethi Kazunari Fukui

#Indonesia is on track to achieve its #SDG7 targets on #electrification and #cleancooking but may fall short of achieving its #renewableenergy target of at least 23 percent in the total final energy supply. Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is working to ensure a coordinated United Nations approach to deliver the country's #energytransition efforts. Our current work in Indonesia focuses on strengthening the institutional capacity of local UN bodies to support the Indonesian government and its partners. https://lnkd.in/drK7YmAr

As trade war tensions between the West and China grow, Indonesia is choosing neutrality, looking to both regions to bolster its clean energy manufacturing and capacity as it navigates the energy transition. On a recent episode of Columbia Energy Exchange, Mari Elka Pangestu, Indonesia’s former minister of tourism and creative economy, said “If you really want an accessible and affordable green transition, you will have to rely on a lot of the technologies that have developed in China." https://hubs.la/Q02xg59n0

AMEM, APEAC & Role of Malaysia The ASEAN Ministers on Energy met on 26 September 2024 in Vientiane. The annual meeting, better known as AMEM, short for ASEAN Minister's on Energy Meeting, issues its traditional Joint-Ministerial Statement (JMS). The document for the 42nd AMEM can be accessed at this link -> https://lnkd.in/gp3_PdWv For your easy reference, I have drafted the attached summary, extracted the progress of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) as highlighted in the JMS. APAEC was first launched in 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, to be carried out over two 5-year phases of Ph I: 2016-2020 and Ph 2: 2021-2025. The 42nd AMEM agreed to continue APAEC for another 20 yrs; that will align it with ASEAN Vision 2045. Coincidentally, APAEC Post 2025 is expected to also be launched in Kuala Lumpur next year; making Malaysia's chairmanship in 2025 to be an important one in charting the future of energy for ASEAN.
