As we come to an end on B Corp Month, I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the fantastic event we hosted last week. Here are some key insights I gathered: ✅ Businesses aspire to uphold ethical and sustainable standards but often lack clarity on initiating their ESG strategy. This is where the B Impact Assessment (BIA) comes into play! ✅ We need to refine how we communicate the essence of B Corp and the comprehensive sustainability standards it signifies. Sometimes, the B Corp logo doesn't convey its full significance to people. Breaking down the logo and its meaning into impact areas could enhance understanding. ✅ Engaging senior management in the importance of ESG initiatives can be challenging. To bridge this gap, we speak their language, present data supporting our ESG initiatives, and emphasize the efficiency gained by leveraging the (free) BIA tool rather than reinventing the wheel. ✅ Existing B Corps are enthusiastic about the movement and willingly offer mentorships or team sessions while sharing their experiences, both successes and challenges. ✅ Many businesses are doing really well in terms of sustainability, but don't have policies or says of working formalised. A B Leader can be a great support here. ✅ Each of us is responsible for supporting B Corps and raising awareness among end users. ✅ As B Leaders, we can leverage each other's expertise in impact areas and business operations to assist clients in their certification journey. Let's foster collaboration and extend support to emerging B Corps. ✅ Ireland stands out as one of the few countries offering grant support for B Corp certification. ✅ Lastly, as we have 38 current B Corps, compiling our data on team retention, revenue, consumer awareness, emissions, etc will be critical to support the movement. #bcorp #blabireland #bleader #bcorpeurope #bcorpcertified B Lab Ireland

BIO International Convention 2024 is just around the corner. This candid shot from a decade ago (i.e., 2014) was at mbhb’s (McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP) hopping reception in San Diego. The young female professional pictured here paid her own way from Canada to network for a job and to learn about the industry firsthand; she was so impressive that I hired her on the spot. She went on to have a very solid tenure at Kymanox. I hope to see you June 3-6 in San Diego, California USA with Scott Arra, Nathan B., and Lisa Yargeau: (1) The real lasting value of BIO is networking; everything else is transactional and has a much shorter shelf life. Just one (1) quality connection can provide ample Return On Investment (ROI) (NOTE: Matt Neighoff suggests five (5) is the right target number if you are a business development professional). (2) You must take some risk and put yourself out there. No risks, no rewards. If a random international engineering grad with zero work or industry experience and who never attended BIO before can land a permanent, full-time job at the event, you are probably aiming too low with your goals. (3) Go make the stories you can tell and share a decade from now!

The Loop has started a new year-round programme to deliver its pioneering onsite drug testing at Drumsheds and The Warehouse Project, with testing in the autumn 2024 clubbing season to monitor trends in the drug market for safety.
