Are you brand that’s confused when it comes to packaging and what is truly sustainable? It’s a confusing space to be right now. I really like how Nestle have leant into the drama caused when switching material and packaging formats and how it might affect brand hertiage in this case. Personally, I think the new Nestle tub makes a lot of sense both from an energy & transportation point of view as well as the recycling aspect (when compared to the plastic tub). Hopefully the trial goes well this Christmas 🎄 Well done to the those involved in the redesign and trial. I was asked today on an interview "Is there hope?" The first #EarthDay post I saw today was a comment on Starbucks redesign of their cold cups to use 10% less plastic per cup. I'm sure it's also in their plans to sell 10% more drinks. Our trajectory with these incremental changes in the face of planetary boundaries gives me no reason for hope for our current system and structures. But regenerative systems are emerging and connecting that can hospice our old system and bring new life. Each day more people connect to scale regenerative ideas across political borders, bioregion, and communities. Exploring how systems change (example is the 2 Loops model noted in the video below), I have hope in the community efforts and connections that are growing in Tampa Bay and beyond. Yes, there is reason to hope.

A storytelling workshop needing a hard hat and a high viz jacket: this was a first!   Here I am with Jodie Miles from our team – our lead storytelling coach – running a workshop for Primary Connect. They are the supply chain experts at Woolworths. They battle floods and fires to make sure food and supplies get trucked and distributed to the farthest corners of Australia.   The workshop was held out at their new Moorebank distribution centre (DC) so we also got to have a peek inside. Whooagh it’s a massive site: the size of Sydney’s CBD. When the National DC opens later this year it will be in safer, and more comfortable working conditions for their team. Plus, it comes with a 5-star Green Star rating, a lower carbon footprint and 23,000 fewer truck movements every year. Nice.   I always love a place-based workshop and we don’t do them enough. It’s a regenerative approach and something I’m working at bringing in more at Wordstruck. Because humans naturally connect to places, it helps bring out a deeper sense of care.   In this case, hearing the team share the story of Moorebank – while on site – made the words leap off the page. What was most satisfying was sensing their passion for the work they do and hearing them personalise the story (which we’d meticulously crafted ;).   For our team that means our stories are living and breathing… then they go on to have a life of their own.
