Did you know this week marks World Immunization Week, always observed during the last week of April? From April 24th to 30th, we join hands globally to celebrate World Immunization Week, shedding light on the power of vaccines to protect us against diseases. Thanks to vaccination efforts, diseases like poliovirus and smallpox have been successfully eradicated in many countries. This remarkable achievement underscores immunization's crucial role in safeguarding public health. Yet, despite the proven benefits of vaccination, many individuals still hesitate to get vaccinated due to fears of potential side effects or misinformation. However, World Immunization Week serves as an opportunity to dispel myths and increase public awareness about the life-saving advantages of vaccines. At AHF, we're committed to this cause. Learn more about our project focusing on adult vaccination, with key opinion leaders Dr. Alejandra Macchi, Dr. Ana Paulina Celi, Dr. CARLOS ESPINAL, Dr. Cristián Biscayart, Dr. Diego Garcia, Dr. Prof. Eduardo Gotuzzo, Dr. Ernesto Montenegro Renoiner, Dr. Jaime Torres, Dr. Juan Del Canto y Dorador, Dr. Paola Casas vasquez, and Dr. Renato Kfouri: https://buff.ly/3U7y1j0 Design by Kathryn Salvatierra #worldimmunizationweek #immunization #vaccines #healthcare #access #policy #AHF

Why do some people not want to protect themselves against the pandemic threat, and what should the government do? The small scale of vaccinations against the pandemic and the rapidly growing anti-vaccination campaign on social media make it necessary to investigate this phenomenon. Why do some people not want to get vaccinated despite the apparent threat to people's health and lives? The article shows how to counteract this problem. https://lnkd.in/d3hawBzQ

🌍 Celebrating National Vaccination Day: A Collective Triumph in Public Health 🌍 Today marks an important observance - National Vaccination Day. This day is not just a milestone but a profound reminder of the incredible advancements we've made in public health through the power of immunization. Vaccines stand as one of humanity's greatest achievements, offering protection against diseases that once ravaged communities worldwide. From the historic eradication of smallpox to the near-elimination of polio, the impact of vaccines on global health is unparalleled. Yet, as we commemorate this day, it's crucial to acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. Vaccine equity, access, and hesitancy remain significant barriers to achieving universal coverage. The ongoing global health landscape, shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, has underscored the importance of vaccinations and the need for robust healthcare systems. As professionals, we play a vital role in this narrative. Whether through advocacy, policy-making, healthcare, or education, we can contribute to a world where everyone has access to life-saving vaccines. Let's use our platforms and expertise to support vaccination efforts, dispel myths, and promote science-based decision-making. On National Vaccination Day, let's recommit to the cause of public health. By working together, we can overcome obstacles and move closer to a future free from vaccine-preventable diseases. New preprint out now - "Monitoring the world’s largest and fastest vaccine rollout: developing information systems to track COVID-19 vaccination worldwide" with Carolyn Inae Kim 'Franck Fortuné MBOUSSOU' M. Carolina Danovaro. The #COVID19vaccine rollout presented all immunization information systems with challenging demands – requiring in-depth vaccine implementation data at all health system levels in real-time. Nearly all countries adapted existing and / or developed new immunization information systems to monitor #COVID19 vaccination, with approaches varying widely. Reflection is needed on how to sustain investments made in IIS during the pandemic. Continued support for IIS is critical, given their essential role in program monitoring and performance. https://lnkd.in/eMbAbDVd
